XenoEncore Tournament Replays Offer a Look at Recent High-Level Skullgirls Competition in New York

On April 30th, Evo Champ cR|Dekillsage held a new tournament for Skullgirls and Street Fighter V called XenoEncore in New York’s own China Town. A lot of high-level play happened for both titles, with the event being streamed and recorded by the combined efforts of House of 3000 and Kick-Punch-Block. There was even a total of $300 in pot bonuses for the event, $200 to SG, and $100 to SFV.

The Xeno series of events and Ho3k tend to lean towards Smash when it comes to fighting games, so the fact that they can successfully branch out to other games is promising. KPB also has a habit of popping up whenever Skullgirls is happening in the Northeast, having streamed multiple major tournaments for the game at Big E events like Northeast Championships. While XenoEncore is currently only a fledgling tournament, seeing this many established names behind one event leaves some interesting possibilities for growth.

One noteworthy bit of context to this tournament is the fact that some members of the East Coast community feel that the Tri-State scene is in decline. While the Tri-State area being in trouble is obviously not a universally shared opinion, the birth of a new and successful venue is proof positive that the passion is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Combo Breaker Reveals Killer Instinct Tournament Details and Pot Bonus

The atmosphere is heating up for this month’s St. Charles, Il., tournament, Combo Breaker. Earlier today, the event’s website revealed details on the results of cooperation between Ultra Arcade, Ultimate Source, and the Killer Instinct Community Fund.

Provided by the Community Fund, a $3,000 pot bonus is up for grabs at the event. What’s more, the winner also automatically qualifies for the next Killer Instinct World Cup, which crowned this year’s champion, Rico Suave, with a hefty cash payout. Those who finish in top 16 will also be awarded points toward qualifying them for the World Cup.

Furthermore, every participant at the event will receive a free Ultra Arcade x Combo Breaker t-shirt and a KI wristband. And if that’s not enough, the highest placing competitors who exclusively use Fulgore, Hisako, Sabrewulf, Jago, and Shadow Jago will earn a Wave One figure of that particular character from Ultimate Source.

In a lengthy post, and one that should be stickied on the Battle.Net World of Warcraft forums, Ion “Watcher” Hazzikostas has written a most interesting post in response to players concerned about a vendor found in alpha selling items and mounts at very, very high prices. After informing the community that this vendor is not meant to be a ‘gold sink’ (that’s adequately taken care of with repairs & auction house tarifs), Hazzikostas went on to explain a fundamental feature of the game.

Crowfall: Healed to Death

A few days ago Artcraft gave us a nice preview of the Druid’s powers and UI. It’s fairly deep, especially considering how early in the development the concept is. I was excited to read about the duality mechanic and while I still love the concept, half of it didn’t quite live up to my expectations.
