For fans of Bandai Namco’s Tekken series, Northwest Majors 8 represented the 3rd stop on Tekken 7’s North American tour.

The event gave the northwest’s Tekken community a chance to not just take the game out for a spin, but to also compete in it before its (still) unspecified console release date.

As such, a good number of top Tekken players from the region were in attendance, such as Inkognito, Jimmy J. Tran, Kenji, RIP, and more.

For those who missed out on catching the action live during the tournaments stream, or who simply want to watch the matches again, Bandai Namco have now uploaded the replays from the top 16 of the tournament onto their channel. Thanks to a short guide by Wave eSports’s own THE COOL KID93, Alex players can learn how to easily cancel into a special involving a down charge from a standing normal. The video shows how down charges can effectively be hidden inside the animation of other moves, like Alex’s toward heavy punch.

While this is good in neutral, COOL KID also details how cloaking down charge can lead into a decent mixup if opponents have been conditioned to expect chops or command grabs. More importantly, these down charge setups can work following a meaty standing heavy punch, even beating 3 frame jabs if timed correctly.
