Combo Breaker Organizer Temporarily Bars Player from Participating in Future Events

On Sunday, May 29, amid the excitement of finals day at Combo Breaker 2016, an unacceptable event took place: a male attending the event groped a female. The victim has asked not to be named, but those who have reviewed the necessary footage have identified the offender as Noel Brown.

In response to this incident, organizer Rick “TheHadou” Thiher released a statement on the Combo Breaker website declaring that Brown “will not be permitted to attend Combo Breaker’s 2017 and potential 2018 events,” before going on to say “Combo Breaker will re-evaluate Mr. Brown’s eligibility to attend our events in 2018.”

The statement closes by assuring everyone that Combo Breaker events have a zero tolerance policy for harassment. How this decision will impact Brown’s ability to attend other events on the Capcom Pro Tour remains to be seen, though it is important to note that Capcom recently updated their Pro Tour rules to address concerns with swearing, harassment, collusion and other inappropriate conduct.

General: Global Users Spend 8-15% of Leisure Time Gaming

Nielsen has released a new paper called 360 Gaming Report that reveals some very similar worldwide gaming statistics. Across the globe, gamers spend between 8-15% of leisure time primarily playing on consoles and mobile devices with a nearly 50-50 split between male and female gamers. Console gamers tend to be in the 35 and under bracket with PC gamers averaging between 30-45 years old.

Blade & Soul: Vengeance Breaks Update Now Live

Blade & Soul players will want to check out today’s big update now that the Vengeance Breaks patch has been successfully deployed. There are three new heroic dungeons, Silverfrost Mountains: Act 4, Part 2, the Tower of Infinity, and Hongmoon level 15 to look forward to in addition to the brand new pet system.

General: Hostile Takeover of Gameloft Complete, Vivendi Eyes Ubisoft

After years of quietly, and sometimes not so quietly, buying up any shares of Gameloft, Vivendi finally has become the majority owner of the mobile games company. Alongside the Gameloft purchases, Vivendi has also been making moves on Ubisoft by purchasing available stocks from shareholders at an inflated price that ‘encourages’ them to sell. The Guillemot brothers run Ubisoft and have been scrambling to secure agreements from shareholders to keep more Ubi stocks out of Vivendi hands.

Street Fighter Crash Season Finale Live Saturday Night Featuring Team Topanga and Team Razer

After two months of intense competition, the first season of Street Fighter Crash in South Korea is coming to a close on Saturday night (in the west). After an exciting event last week that saw HumanBomb defeat RZR|Infiltration twice, we ultimately saw Team Razer defeat Team Southeast, riding off the strength of RZR|Xian’s F.A.N.G play.

In the finals, Team Razer will face Team Topanga–a team who had little issue dispatching IsaCenter–in a runback from top 8. People who tuned in during that time will remember seeing Infiltration lose to EG|Momochi when most people expected him to face Tokido at some point that day, which ultimately led to Team Razer having to fight through losers bracket to advance to top 4 play. Infiltration is seeking revenge on Topanga and Momochi in particular; will he find the retribution he so craves?

While that match will be the highlight of the event, let’s not forget that IsaCenter and Team Southeast will be playing for 3rd place money and bragging rights. Will Team Secret’s Poongko be able to overcome losing twice to Xian in Top 4? Will HumanBomb be able to ride the momentum he had last week into the finale? Or will Sandbag, 200won, and Sazabi shock the world by beating a stacked team such as HumanBomb, Poongko, and AVM|Gamerbee?
