Super Smash Bros. Major, Genesis, Announces Fourth Iteration

The team behind one of the biggest Super Smash Bros. tournaments of 2016–and among the largest of all time–Genesis 3, have announced their return to San Jose for Genesis 4 on January 20th-22nd, 2017.

Genesis 3, which played host to more than 3,500 individual Smash Bros. enthusiasts, has only been surpassed by Evo in terms of attendance and was a successful return installment of a tournament series that had been dormant for 5 years.

The announcement of Genesis 4 for January of 2017 suggests that the series won’t be undergoing another hibernation after the success of Genesis 3.

The response following the announcement has been huge, with more than 300 attendees already confirmed just a few hours after registration opened. With such a strong start, it would come as little surprise if Genesis 4 were to challenge Evo in terms of registration, though beating out Evo’s tallies of over 2,000 players for both Smash 4 and Melee will take some doing!
