Trove: Making the Move to PS4

Trion’s voxel MMO Trove has been a huge success on the PC. Now the team is working on the port to consoles and giving players an even bigger world to enjoy. We sat down with Andrew Krausnick to go over what it is like to transfer an MMO to the PS4. General: Be Honest, You Don?t Finish Your Games

Chronicles of Elyria: The Store and the War

This is a hard one. This week I’m going to talk about the pink and purple polka dotted elephant in the room that is the Chronicles of Elyria (COE) storefront. If you read the latest COE update from Soulbound Studios owner/leader Jeromy Walsh then you might be thinking “I thought the Elephant in the room was the website”. I think the elephant is the storefront and I’ll explain why but before I get into that I want to explain something else.

TERA: New Event, ‘TERA Mongo’, Ongoing Through July 31st

TERA players are invited to head into the game to take part in a new event called TERA Mongo. The idea is for players to hunt down and kill Mongos, monsters that can appear in strange places. Finding and killing these creatures can yield enchanting materials and cosmetic items. Uncommon and rare Mongos can also drop a mount.

Duelyst: Latest Update Spruces Up the Game with Cosmetic Items & More

Duelyst has been updated with a large patch that brings some neat new cosmetic items into the game including new emotes, profile icons, and card backs. Every cosmetic in this update can be purchased for real world cash or crafted with Spirit. Anyone who registered prior to this particular update will get “Base General Emotes” as thanks for their participation.

City of Titans: Learning from the Real World to Bring Games to Life

The City of Titans KickStarter site has been updated with a fascinating new blog post that discusses one of the game’s characters, Anthem, a wounded warrior rocking a prosthetic arm. In order to get a very detailed understanding of what that means, the costume Anthem wears was designed by Cajun Catfish, a cosplayer who wanted to create something feasible to make in the real world.

Evolution Championship Series Celebrates It’s 20th Anniversary

20 years ago, the Cannon Brothers ran a tournament called “Battle by the Bay”, a 64-man Super Street Fighter II and Street Fighter Alpha 2 Sunnyvale, California. 64-man tournaments sometimes sneak by without notice these days, but at the time it was probably a jaw-dropping success.

Let’s put this in perspective: Evo is not just older then some of it’s entrants. It’s older then one of it’s most celebrated multi-champions, SonicFox.

I can imagine the Cannon’s did indeed dream of the sparkling spectacle that Evo is now, but I suspect they may not have believed they would see it happen in their lifetime. It’s one thing to see the place in your dreams. It’s another to get there.

Well, congratulations! We should all be so lucky to see our work grow up like you have, Evo. If you consider Battle by the Bay Evo’s official birth, then in one more year, Evo can legally drink. Given the spot the community is in with it’s recent televised success on ESPN2, it feels apropos, yeah?

Of course, it wasn’t actually “Evo” until it’s name change in 2002. But that’s semantics. The spirit and concept have been there since the beginning, and we are all more advanced, organized, and unified because of it. I’m not much for predictions, but it certainly doesn’t feel like we’re going away anytime soon.

Happy Birthday, Evo. Happy Birthday, FGC. Here’s to 20 more.
