Tekken’s Harada is Considering Expanding Tekken 7 with Paid DLC Due to Fan Demand

If there’s one thing that the Tekken franchise isn’t known for, it’s having any sort of paid DLC to expand the game. Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has gone on record saying that he believes that fighting games work best as a package, and that things such as gameplay changes should be reserved for a new game.

However, it seems that Harada may be changing his tune due to feedback from the fans. In an interview with Gamereactor during Gamescom, Harada stated that “recently with the digital purchases and such a lot of people, the players especially are saying that they don’t mind paying… that they still want to see some new content after release.” He continues, saying “So since the voices are becoming more and more larger, I guess you could say, it is something that we want to think about seriously and perhaps change our point of view.”

While this doesn’t confirm that Tekken 7 will have paid DLC, this does open the possibility for it. At the very least, fans of characters who didn’t make the cut for Tekken 7: Fated Retribution have hope that their favorites may be added down the line.

Of course, that isn’t the only thing Gamereactor talked to Harada about in the interview. Other topics, such as why certain characters, such as newcomer Master Raven, were included, are discussed in the interview which you can watch below.

Gotta Go Fast! TGL GiefKid Breaks Street Fighter V Zangief Survival Speedrun Record

Speedrunning has become a popular form of competition as well as entertainment within gaming circles. With events like Awesome Games Done Quick airing annually, there’s no doubt that most of you have seen some of your favorite childhood games beaten in ungodly times, by people that tend to do more frame-perfect inputs than a Tekken player.

Fighting games, however, has experienced a dearth of players wanting to take them seriously for speedrunning. Given that several factors can actually impede your process within speedrunning a fighting game, there’s no wonder. Regardless, dedicated players may have found their speedrunning home in one of the most frustrating modes found within Street Fighter V–Survival Mode.

While most people are looking for a reason to stay away from Survival, speedrunners are flocking to it, as the in-game clock shows a real-time stopwatch–down to thousands of a second. This makes measuring speedruns in the game easy, and gives even more longevity to the mode outside of the hopes of unlocking colors.

Although the current overall world record for easy difficulty is held by a user by the name of thelvl99charmander–using Laura–TGL GiefKid shared a video of his record setting performance in the same difficulty using Zangief. Clocking in at just under 1 minute and 52 seconds, this will be one of the quickest Street Fighter V videos you watch today, and may inspire you to break his or any of the other records listed. And if you are crazy enough to try to set a record on Extreme Mode, please make sure we know of your success!
