LI Joe Talks about Why He Hasn’t Gone Pro, Playing on ESPN, Urien, and More

With his impressive performance at Evo 2016–being the only American player to make it into top 8–Joe “LI Joe” Ciaramelli has become something of a folk hero in the fighting game community. Despite this however, he has yet to take advantage of any opportunities his Evo performance might have opened towards going pro.

BornFree recently caught up with LI Joe at Defend the North where they got to talk about a number of topics; on not going pro, Joe states that he isn’t really ready to quit his current job and play fighting games as a full time career. The fighting game community “isn’t there yet,” at least in terms of playing at a pro level being a viable career option. However, he doesn’t discount the possibility of doing so further down the line.

In addition to this, he also talks about playing at live on ESPN at Evo and also shares his thoughts on the final DLC character for Street Fighter V: Urien, who was his main back in Street Fighter III 3rd Strike.

The video lasts about an hour and is packed with fighting, chocobos, driving and other fun stuff. It’s a good healthy chunk of action for your viewing pleasure that may help take the sting out of the release delay.

Manga Character Mai Natsume Coming to BlazBlue: Central Fiction

When BlazBlue: Central Fiction hits home consoles later this year, it will include characters not in the original arcade release. We’ve already seen the first of these characters: Es, heroine of the BlazBlue spinoff Xblaze: Code Embryo. Now, yet another spin-off character is joining the game’s cast.

In this week’s issue of Famitsu, Arc System Works has confirmed that Mai Natsume will be joining the game’s cast as one of these extra fighters. Hailing from the manga spin-off BlazBlue: Remix Heart and its sequel, Variable Heart, Mai previously made a non-playable appearance in the story mode of BlazBlue: Chronophantasma EXTEND.

Additional details about Mai have yet to be shared. In the meantime, check out the preview of the Famitsu issue and some images of Mai in the gallery below.
