Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada Becomes First Super Smash Bros. Player to Join NRG

After leaving Team Liquid last week before his trip to Japan for Umebura S.A.T, Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada has been signed as NRG’s first fighting game player. The decision to sign Nairo comes after extensive fan polling on Twitter and background research to determine who NRG’s first pick up should be, with Nairo coming out on top. Talking to ESPN Esports about Nairo’s addition to NRG’s roster, NRG Esports chairman Andy Miller stated that “[Nairo] is a carefully chosen first player that we feel will build the foundation for NRG’s fighting game presence for years to come.”

Japanese Mewtwo master Abadango and the Netherlands’ own Mr.R were heavily rumored as top picks for NRG’s first Super Smash Bros. for Wii U player, but it seems that Nairo just pipped them to the post. With his recent first place at Super Smash Con, combined with his stream being one of the most popular Smash 4 streams out there, Nairo seems to be the perfect pick for NRG’s first foray into the scene. Talking to ESPN, Nairo stated that “in the end, there were three organizations I was really leaning towards. What sold me on NRG was the idea that they’re not looking to pick up a million players.” With there being a mini-gold rush for Smash players at the moment, it’s only natural that top players will be picking between multiple organizations and by the looks of it, NRG offered Nairo the best deal.

Prepare Your Body for The King of Fighters XIV with Hellpockets’ Primer Guide

The King of Fighters has long been argued as one of the most technical 2D fighters in existence, requiring a great deal in regards to execution in order to be viewed as competent in the title. Hellpockets, a series veteran, noticed this as one of the biggest issues in regards to bringing newer players–or even players transitioning from a series such as Street Fighter–into King of Fighters XIII.

With that in mind, he decided not to let the same barrier of entry plague what is shaping up to be the most important and well-received title in the SNK Playmore franchise’s history, and has put together an excellent primer for The King of Fighters XIV. He starts off with the very basics of movement–usually cut and dry in most titles–and teaches the importance of using runs, rolls, evasive rolls, jumps, hyper hops, and short hops within the engine. He also goes over normal attacks, including blowbacks, which is a move not seen in any other current franchise. He doesn’t stop there, touching on Guard Cancels, specials, EX Moves, Max Mode, and Quick Max.

All told, this is the compendium needed for newcomers to the series. If you are a player from any other franchise looking to try out King of Fighters XIV–or even a newcomer in King of Fighters XIII that struggled with the game, this primer is for you!
