Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 “Road to Boruto” Dashes to the West This February

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is receiving a brand new expansion pack titled Road to Boruto. This expansion is based on the series’ newest generation of ninja and will be hitting digital shelves in North America and Europe on February 3 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

The expansion will include new characters, story missions, and locations to explore. While the original Naruto manga ended nearly two years ago, there’s plenty more ninja action to experience with the Road to Boruto expansion.

Owners of the main game will only need to pay $19.99 to receive the additional content. Those who don’t currently own the game are in luck! A packaged edition was also announced that includes the base game alongside the expansion.

The packaged edition is currently only confirmed for Japan, but there’s plenty of time for Bandai Namco to announce a western physical release.

Those who pre-ordered Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 received early access to Naruto’s son, Boruto and Sasuke’s daughter, Sarada. Here’s a gameplay trailer showing off the new characters as they battle the original duo.

Interested in Joining Shadaloo? Learn All About Its Ranks in These CFN Profiles

As we’ve seen over the course of the Cinematic Story Mode “A Shadow Falls,” as well as various pieces of Concept Art and supplemental material throughout the Capcom Fighters Network Portal site, Shadaloo is an extremely large terrorist organization, comprised of many more personnel beyond the Four Heavenly Kings and the 12 Shadaloo Dolls. We even spotlighted a division of Apprentice Dolls  earlier this month. Courtesy of the Shadaloo Activity Report as provided by private Nakagawa, here’s a look inward, shining a spotlight on some of the soldiers and other employees of the organization, who faithfully serve the cause of Lord Bison behind closed doors. Now you too can experience Shadaloo’s militaristic might!

Nakagawa: This time, it’s Shadaloo’s Medical Soldiers. These are the soldiers in the Research Facility, on the second floor, Medical Room. Even if they have medical duties, they can fight. A scalpel is scary!

Basic Info:

Name: Shadaloo Medical Soldiers
Equipment: Scalpel, Psycho Cooper Scissors, Psycho Metzenbaum Scissors, Gas Mask
Duties: Medical Treatment of the Troops, Experiments on Living Things

Nakagawa: They do everything, from the treatment of wounded soldiers to massages for desk workers. They are the persons to whom Shadaloo Soldiers should be grateful for their health. Massages are given on an appointment basis, and their prices are deducted from your salary.

Next up, are the three Ranks of Shadaloo Soldiers, many of whom can be faced in the Cinematic Story Mode as CPU-controlled NPCs with Single-Bar Variable Gauges.

Nakagawa: Finally they’ve come! Our Low-Ranking Soldiers! The unsung heroes (those who do the chores)! The central figures behind the shadows (those who get beaten)! The more I write about them, the more I get sad…

Basic Info:

Name: Low-Ranking Shadaloo Soldiers
Equipment: Psycho Armor (Epaulets), Psycho Mask, Psycho Power Receiver, Shadaloo Employee ID Card
Duties: Base Security, Sabotage, Chores, Site Updating
Techniques: Psycho Tackle, Psycho Crusher (in name only)

Nakagawa: The Psycho Tackle is a basic technique, a brilliant rush with the shoulder, followed by a flurry of punches. The Psycho Crusher (in name only) is a move full of openings, an attempt at the mythical technique of Lord Bison. There’s a bit of stiffness after getting up again. By the way, our soldier’s formal name is AS for “Artificial Soldier.” And the Shadaloo Soldiers’ Development Program (Strengthening Project) is SADP, that’s “Shadaloo Artificial Development Programme. A bit difficult, so it’s only used by the original proposer, Lord F.A.N.G.

Nakagawa: If you thought they were coming next, you were right: the Mid-Ranking Soldiers, those stronger than us. You are promoted if you can pass an exam.

Basic Info:

Name: Shadaloo Mid-Rank Soldiers
Equipment: Psycho Armor (Epaulets), Psycho Buckle, Psycho Beret, Psycho Power Receiver, Shadaloo Employee ID Card
Duties: Base Security, Sabotage, Chores, Site Updating
Techniques: Psycho Tackle, Psycho Divekick, Psycho Crusher (in name only)

Nakagawa: The Psycho Divekick is a diving kick after a jump. A dangerous technique, as you are open for a counterattack during the landing, not to mention the risk of spraining your ankle. These soldiers also take part with the Four Heavenly Kings in overseas battles and operations in foreign countries. They gave us a souvenir from their last trip to India. (Perhaps the Piece Balrog stole from Zangief?) All those who reach this rank have their eyes that have become white.

Nakagawa: High-Ranking Shadaloo Soldiers, the most powerful amongst us. Once you’ve attained this rank, you can use Psycho Power. Obviously only if you receive power directly from Lord Bison, though.

Basic Info:

Name: High-Ranking Shadaloo Soldiers
Equipment: Psycho Mask, Psycho Power Receiver, Shadaloo Employee ID Card
Duties: Base Security, Sabotage, Business Support to the Four Heavenly Kings, Command of the various bases
Techniques: Psycho Tackle, Psycho Divekick, Psycho Elbow, Psycho Crusher (in name only)

Nakagawa: Psycho Elbow is the anti-air we’ve always dreamed of. You are left wide-open during landing, with a very large gap… It’s a playful, mischievous move, and we relish ever time it comes out. The soldiers entirely clad in red are extremely super ultra rare! They are the elite, and only a handful of them can surpass the tests and survive the trials. The soldiers who directly support the Four Heavenly Kings are of this type.

That wraps up our look inside Shadaloo’s dark hierarchy. But you can check out more CFN Profiles, like the characters of Street Fighter 2010, here.

Desk Explores the Effect of Using Both Pad Input Options in Street Fighter V

One of the fastest to highlight everything broken in Street Fighter, desk is back with something we should have already explored but didn’t–using both the analog stick and directional pad on a controller in Street Fighter V.

Several years ago, SOCD (Simultaneous Opposite Cardinal Direction) inputs were found in various games. This was discovered in two different situations–using both the analog stick and directional pad on a controller, and using a Hitbox controller to perform both at once. This results in a number of things that are impossible to replicate on joysticks becoming possible to perform.

In Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix, players could not only block both ways, but charge characters could walk forward while still maintaining charge. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 experienced this oversight as well. Aftermarket circuit boards had to implement measures to “clean” SOCD inputs by making left and right SOCDs result in a neutral direction, and down and up SOCDs result in a jump, thus keeping Hitbox controllers tournament legal. The issue remains up to game developers to program for and patch as able.

In Street Fighter V, the developer attempted to rectify this situation by making left and right SOCDs result in the character only walk forward. While this is a partial fix to the issue, it does create an additional, situational issue that desk illustrates in the video below.

Final Fantasy XV – The Opening Two Hours of An Epic

Final Fantasy XV is distinctly a Final Fantasy game. From the opening music, to the referential systems and names, there’s no denying that you’re playing a Final Fantasy. That said, FFXV is quite possibly the largest departure from “The Norm” that the series has offered since FFXI brought the IP to the MMORPG many years ago. We played from the beginning for a solid two hours at PAX West, and now we’re left wanting November 29th to come that much sooner…
