As part of a bigger series about introducing fans to their players, Tempo Storm has created a short video all about Pikachu prodigy Jeffrey ‘Axe’ Williamson, discussing his history with Melee, why he chose Pikachu as his main and much more.

Following him during his time as this year’s Super Smash Con, the video has clips of Axe playing and interacting with fans, alongside him talking to camera about his experiences playing Melee at a tournament level and how he came to join Tempo Storm as one of their first Smash players. With Johnny ‘S2J’ Kim being a recent addition to the Tempo Storm family, expect a similar video covering the SoCal Falcon in the near future.

This weekend is East Coast Throwdown, one of New Jersey’s most prominent fighting game events, brought to you by LI Joe and company. ECT has built a reputation as one of the most hype gatherings on the coast, and this year will likely be no different. Among the competition titles at this year’s event are Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-, Killer Instinct, The King of Fighters XIV, Mortal Kombat X, Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

What players will you see at ECT? Of course you’ll see a wealth of East Coast talent like alucarD, RayRay, Smug, Ludovic, IFC YipeS, LuckyD, Santhrax, Di3mini0n, Shine, Moons, LostSoul, Lord Knight and MarlinPie. A few West Coasters like Julio Fuentes, Alex Myers and BjornSonOfBear will also be in the brackets. But you’ll also find The Beast, Daigo Umehara coming off two straight Capcom Pro Tour wins and looking for a third. You can get a look at how the brackets are laid out on Challonge here.

Of the four Capcom Pro Tour ranking events this weekend, two will be taking place in North America. One is First Attack, Puerto Rico’s premier fighting game tournament. The event will feature a wide variety of the latest and most popular titles.

In addition to North American talent like Dr Ray, Ricki Ortiz, Snake Eyez, NuckleDu, NYChrisG, LPN and Tampa Bison attending, a few international players will looking to grab some ranking points. The king of anime GO1 and the Rashid sensation John Takeuchi of Japan will be competing.

It’s been over a year, but GODSGARDEN is back for #11! This year is bringing back Guilty Gear Xrd, of with the latest release REVELATOR.

The GODSGARDEN main event will consist of eight players. Two of those players have already been determined by fan vote: Evo 2016 runner-up Omito and the Korean I-No monster Daru. The remaining six will be determined by the preliminaries just before the main event.

Some of the best Guilty Gear players in the world will be trying to grind their way through the quals. Rion, Machabo-, Souji, FAB, Ogawa, Fumo, Ain, Nage, Nakamura, TAKA, Summit, NOB, Dogura, IE-chan, Consomme, Gazou, 310, Koichi and Roi are just some of the names you’ll see competing.
