New Razer Arcade Stick Is in Development, According to Infiltration at South East Asia Major 2016

Razer is finally getting back into the arcade stick game, according to Infiltration. In an extended interview with Yahoo Esports, Infiltration stated that while information is scarce and they don’t know the exact release date, Razer is working on a new stick design.

Seeing as Atrox models were only compatible with Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC, it stands to reason that this new stick–or at least one version thereof–will work with the PlayStation 4, seeing as that is currently the main console used for fighting game tournaments. Notably, this news closely follows Infiltration’s new partnership with ViewSonic. Hopefully, Razer’s new stick design will help dispel their checkered history of tournament hardware malfunctions, and reposition the company back as one of the standout stick manufacturers out there. As said in the interview, no exact news on a release date yet, but expect more information probably after Capcom Cup 2016.

BEAST 7 Returns to Gothenburg, Sweden on February 17th-19th

Announced at the very beginning of Melee top 8 at The Big House 6, the legendary European tournament series BEAST is returning for its seventh installment in Gothenburg, Sweden this coming February. Famous for being the great gathering of European talent across Melee and Smash 4, 2017’s BEAST event will also have Street Fighter V as part of its roster, after a successful side event at BEAST 6. This does mean that Project M is falling off the official title card, but expect a side event of some kind organized by PM players at the event.

So far, Swedish natives [A]|Armada, [A]|Android and TSM|Leffen have signed up to attend, alongside fellow Europeans VwS|Professor Pro, Mr. R, Ice and pM|Sodrek. In the trailer, US players Splyce|Nintendude and The Moon are confirmed as entrants, with more US talent hopefully to come in the coming months. The smash.gg page for BEAST 7 is now open for registration and based on the level of play from last year, this is not a tournament you want to miss.

Friends, Family, and the FGC Mourn the Passing of Christopher “NinjaCW” Harris

Early yesterday morning, a beloved member of our FGC family passed away: Christopher “NinjaCW” Harris. He was the manager of Filpsid3 Tactics, a strong community leader, and a loved son. He was beset by a case of Myocarditis–a heart virus–and succumbed to the condition despite the efforts of doctors.

Many have been either directly or indirectly influence by the passing of this man, who even without his efforts as a community leader was well known for his competition in games like Street Fighter and Dead or Alive. I never got a chance to meet the man personally, and I am saddened that I’ll never get that opportunity.

From everyone here at Shoryuken: we are incredibly saddened by this loss, and wish the best to his family.

Christopher’s mother has also set up a GoFundMe to help with Funeral and Medical costs. He had no life insurance, and a tragedy like this would overwhelm anyone. If you have anything to spare, the campaign link is here.
