Street Fighter V Gets a Blast from the Past with this Original Street Fighter Birdie Mod

Street Fighter V on PC has seen an explosion of mods that change the look of the characters in-game. Some of these change to different characters altogether, others make them look like top players, and more than a few are dedicated to making characters look like their past incarnations. This new mod however, takes the latter route a bit further than most people would.

In the video below, we can see how bajm has created a mod for Street Fighter V’s Birdie; however, instead of using Birdie’s popular Street Fighter Alpha incarnation, bajm goes even further, by turning Birdie back to his original Street Fighter–as in Street Fighter “1”–look. That’s right, no mutton chops, no weird heart-shaped hole in his hair, just the straight up mohawk-sporting street punk look from the 1987 original. The only difference here is that he still sports his chains (originally introduced in Street Fighter Alpha) and he’s looking a bit healthier than his original incarnation, not pale because he was sick (as Street Fighter Alpha 3 would have you believe).

Interested players on PC can get the mod here.

PBE.AK Qualifies for Tekken 7’s King of Iron Fist 2016 World Finals

When most folks think of Tekken in the Philippines, the one name that tends to stand out the most is Alexandre “AK” Lavarez. First making his name by placing third at the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Global Championship back in 2013, this young prodigy quickly became the face of the nation when it came to Tekken.

Now, it seems that AK, who’s currently playing for the PlayBook Elite team, will once again be part of another Tekken world championship. At the recently concluded BrawlFest 2016 at the Electronic Sports and Gaming Summit, AK beat out a field packed with some of the country’s best Tekken players to win the chance to fly to the King of Iron Fist 2016 World Finals.

With this, AK becomes the second player from South East Asia, following Indonesia’s Meat, to qualify for the King of Iron Fist 2016 World Finals.

For more on the qualifier, you can check out the brackets at on Challonge.

Hero’s Song – The Game We Want To Play

When I heard John Smedley was leaving Daybreak Games, I suspected it wasn’t to retire. I was looking for a new gig at the time and thought I would reach out to see what he had in the fire. We went back and forth over text messages for a few days before actually talking, but the idea John described to me then, a little over one year ago, was super exciting and set my mind racing at the possibilities.
