Red Bull’s Snake Eyez and Evil Geniuses’ PR Balrog are two high-level players that haven’t yet found the same level of success they enjoyed in the Street Fighter IV series. That hasn’t deterred them from trying though!
In their quest to level up, the matchmaking gods have put them together in these two sets of ranked matches. Fortunately, XusesGB was able to find and record these matches, as we get to see the Balrog and Zangief matchups take shape from two of the historical bests with their respective characters.
Justine Kish overcame a difficult weight cut and a game opponent to continue her climb on the Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s strawweight ladder
The Tenkaichi Budokai Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- league in the Japanese Mikado Arcade is well on its way in determining all of its participants. Four players have been determined by a popularity vote, and they are as follows:
Roi — Sol Badguy
FAB — Potemkin
Kazuki — Dizzy
Zadi — Raven
Those four players join Karinchu for spots in the upcoming league matches.
The last three spots will be determined through battle, in a tournament this weekend. Mikado will host a two out of three double elimination competition and the first three places win spots in the Tenkaichi Budokai League.
As usual, tune in to Jonio-san’s Twitch stream to catch the action. It will take place Sunday, December 11th, 2:00 p.m. JST (for PST, that’s December 10th 9 p.m., midnight EST).
Read up on our Guide to Tenkaichi Budokai for a thorough overview on the league as well as players who participated in the voting contest.
Remember that amazing Juri mod we got teased a few weeks back? Well, it looks like it is finally done. You can go download your classic Juri today and get access to this amazing work of art.
The mod has a bunch of great features, as detailed in the creator Brutal Ace’s announcement post. There are 10 new colors for this outfit, some of them borrowing from Super Street Fighter IV’s color options, while others look they loosely follow some of her colors in SFV. There is also a barefoot feature, allowing you to play her without anything on her feet–for whoever is into that–as well as an option to let her hair down. This all comes packaged with 4k textures, using her SFV body model instead of her SSFIV body, and gives her unique pink VFX on her attacks. This all replaces story costume 2 on your game, but you can use this link to switch the mod to replace one of her other outfits. Download the mod for yourself here.

“Super Street Fighter Carnival” is the regularly-occurring tournament series of Japan’s famous Mikado Arcade. The series focuses on arcade titles of old, bringing out high level play for a variety of fighters. SSFC2016, the current season, has been running since 10/11/16. It’s hard to believe, but we’ve only got one week left of tournaments from SSFC2016!
Tōkidenshō Angel Eyes is a 1996 fighting game by Tecmo. This game has a lot of mechanics that were pretty advanced for it’s time: air dashes, air blocking, homing jumps, and more. For me, though, my absolute favorite thing about this game is that at the beginning of every round, the game throws both combatants at each other automatically. That’s one way to stop turtling!
The King of Fighters is a staple of the Mikado scene, so KOF 95′ appearing twice in the tournament series is no surprise. Let the runback begin!
KOF ’95 was not the only game to get a second shot this week, though! Samurai Shodown 2 also returns to SSFC2016. After last month’s close grand finals, this is something I’ve been looking forward to in particular. I can’t believe I’ve lived as long as I have and didn’t know Potemkin learned to flick away incoming projectiles from Sieger!
