Frosty Faustings IX Now Part of Killer Instinct World Cup

If you were looking for a tournament to ring in 2017 with, Frosty Faustings IX could possibly be the tournament you want to go to, especially if you are a Killer Instinct player.

The guys in Chicago just announced that Frosty Faustings has been added to the roster of the Killer Instinct World Cup as a qualifier spot. This means that the winner of Killer Instinct at Frosty will automatically qualify for Killer Instinct World Cup in San Antonio, Texas from March 10th-12th 2017. This is also one of the last qualifiers, aside from the last chance qualifiers held at Killer Instinct Con itself, so book those tickets to Chicago if you want to gain an automatic spot at the world finals.

– Champions of Fire Invitational – Opening Doors to New eSports Tournaments

When I was asked to take a trip out to Las Vegas to cover the first ever eSports tournament put on by Amazon’s Mobile App store I wasn’t really sure what to expect. The only details I had about the “Champions of Fire” tournament was that it was going to prove that casual mobile game can be just a competitive as League of Legends or CS:GO. So, of course I assumed Champions of Fire was a game.

Undefeated Announces Adoption of PlayStation 4 Version of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as Tournament Standard

In an announcement last night, Arizona tournament series Undefeated declared that their Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 events would be run on the PlayStation 4 version of the game, meaning that both their tournament singles and Curleh Mustache event will be run on the PS4.

According to Angelic–who has plenty of pedigree in UMvC3, with two top 3 Evo finishes under his belt–the PS4 port of the game is excellent, and it is stable for offline play. Angelic did warn that if problems do emerge before the tournament, Undefeated will revert back to the Xbox 360 version of UMvC3.

Undefeated–which takes place on February 4 and 5–marks the first major Marvel tournament to make the switch to the PS4 version of UMvC3, and will likely set the tournament standard going forward.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves is Now Suddenly Available on Steam

After the game was announced to be getting a remastered port for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, it was left up in the air whether or not we’d get a Steam release of Garou: Mark of the Wolves. It was likely, but with no official announcement we were left guessing. Luckily, that guessing period lasted mere days as a Steam version of the game has shown up today. Check out the direct link to the game here.

While it would seem at a glance that this release would be more-or-less identical to the PlayStation release, this is not the case. With no Gallery, no Ranked mode, and fewer of the art borders that appeared in the trailer for the PlayStation release, this port seems a bit lacking in comparison. There also are fans complaining of audio lag, input lag, and frame drops plaguing this version; these problems will hopefully be patched soon enough, but for now the PlayStation release seems to be the way to go.
