Rising Up: Karin Character Tutorial — Optimal Combos, Setups, & Frame Traps

We’re back this week with the latest Rising Up full-character tutorial hosted on ShoryukenTube; and this time the spotlight is on Karin Kanzuki. Bread and butter punishes and confirms, counter-hit setups and damage optimization, fireball answers, frame traps listed by delay, meaty pressure, setups, and more. If you want to learn Karin, everything you need to know should be right here.

My own Street Fighter V bread and butter combo videos are by far my most popular YouTube videos. However, the vast majority of them were made during the third SFV public beta test. While almost no serious balance changes were made between that beta and release, certain damage values were incorrect and the players have had a lot of time to develop. The initial videos were made based on my own training mode findings and nothing else, and were fully featured around combos. I asked around, and have decided to flesh them into full character guides, now including a basic game plan I’ve summarized from watching a lot of pro matches. This is the full scope of my observations on Karin. As usual, I’ve included an enormous guide in the video description.

I’ll be aiming to launch a new character tutorial every Monday, until all 22 characters are covered. I intend to do the characters in order of most to least popular; next is Laura. Remember to subscribe to the Shoryuken channel, and keep an eye out for future videos!

H1Z1 – Just Survive Isn’t Dead, It’s Just Getting Started

The latest H1Z1: Just Survive producer’s letter has been published to reassure the playerbase that the game is indeed moving forward with production. The post begins with a mea culpa of sorts with the admission that the most recent patch, deployed over two months ago, wasn’t the “prettiest update” that has ever been released. Since that time, however, devs have been updating the Test server regularly and has been actively engaging the community for feedback.

World of Warcraft – “Battered & Bruised” Nostalrius Server to Launch Dec 17

Nostalrius, the pirate World of Warcraft server, will be making a return on December 17th, reborn as Elysium. The original Nostalrius server was shut down by Blizzard, but the WoW team met with server ‘owners’ earlier this summer in a cooperative effort to define the issue. After a few months of what was perceived to be inaction on Blizzard’s part, the Nost team threatened to release its source code if the issue was ignored during Blizzcon 2016. It was and the code was subsequently released.

Guild Wars 2 – Breaking The Fang, and My Heart

Guild Wars 2 has always been a game built on a few iconic characters that carry the story of the game. Unlike World of Warcraft where hundreds of characters and storylines intertwine, Guild Wars has focused on a deep story centred around a select few small groups and organisations. This gives players a heavy investment in the content they are seeing in each release, as it expands upon the core characters’ story and follows trails that we as players are deeply involved in.
