Evolution 2017 Games Revealed! 8 Games Locked In, Vote for the 9th!
The fight card is (mostly) filled in–are you ready?
In tonight’s Evo 2017 Reveal Show (streamed live on Red Bull eSports’ Twitch channel) we finally learned the names of the games that will be featured on the main stage of Evolution 2017 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, July 14-16.
The games returning to the main stage are:
- Street Fighter V
- Super Smash Bros. Melee
- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
- Tekken 7
Meanwhile, the following games make their Evolution debut:
- BlazBlue: Central Fiction
- Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2
- The King of Fighters XIV
- Injustice 2

But wait, isn’t that short a title? The ninth game will be decided by a vote. By making a donation to Make-a-Wish International, you can vote on which of these games you want to see take that final spot:
- Pokkén Tournament
- Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
- Killer Instinct
- Mortal Kombat XL
- Skullgirls 2nd Encore
- Super Street Fighter II Turbo
- Nidhogg
- ARMS
- Windjammers

Go put your money down at Generosity.com to get your favorite in there! The winning game not only becomes a main event, but will be the opening game in the arena Finals on Sunday, and will also have a $10,000 prize pool bonus! Donations are capped at $10,000 per person, corporate sponsors not allowed! The voting closes in two weeks on Wednesday, February 1st.
Registration for Evo 2017 will be handled this year by smash.gg, and opens tonight. Hotel bookings are also open, so don’t dawdle if you want in on a room at Mandalay Bay. Like last year, tickets for the Sunday Finals will be sold separately; the games gracing the arena this year will be–in addition to the Player’s Choice winner–Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
Keep your eyes on Shoryuken and the Evo main page for future updates on the event as they develop!

Bonchan is Busy Showing People Why Nash is Still Competitive in Street Fighter V
Razer’s Infiltration has gone on record to say that Capcom has effectively cut off all of Nash’s limbs in the Season 2 update. Apparently that analogy failed to deter Red Bull’s Bonchan; while Infiltration continues to seek a new main, Bonchan has stuck to his guns, continuing with Nash despite the nerfs.
What he has found is that Nash still has strength in the game, but you have to flex far different muscles than you previously did. So while Nash has lost a lot of the tools he had before, it has forced other tools to come to the forefront, and this video has Bonchan showcasing those tools.

If You Can’t Shoot the Dog, Join Him in This Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Duck Hunt Tutorial
While this may date those people who already get the headline, for the younger audience: there was once a time when rumors were abound that you could actually shoot that dog in Duck Hunt, that would taunt you for missing ducks. But alas, it was only a myth, and the dog remained forever unscathed.
Now, we are able to fight alongside him in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Actually one of the more well-rounded characters in the game, he is able to zone well, as well as come in on the offense. But do you know how and when to do these? Well, this guide might come in handy to help keep your opponents from shooting him, too–now that it is possible, after a fashion.

How to Counter a V-Reversal (and Do It Quickly) with Laura in Street Fighter V
While a lot of the cast finds their way to punish V-Reversals in their throws, Laura (ironically, as a grappler) has certain moves that don’t allow her that opportunity. But that doesn’t mean Laura can’t take advantage of a predicted V-Reversal.
In this video, we get to see all the potential ways that Laura can punish V-Reversals just by using her backwards momentum to her advantage. Not only can she punish them, but she can do so with an insane amount of damage.
