Michael Martin Talks to Shinblanka about Final Round 20 in Conversations and Fireballs

With Final Round 20 being only days away, Atlanta is getting ready to host its biggest fighting game tournament yet. Larry “Shinblanka” Dixon, the lead tournament organizer for Final Round, has been running the event for 20 years–and had a few hiccups to overcome from last year’s iteration.

Michael Martin talked to him about the event series in the latest episode of Conversations and Fireballs. In it, they talk about the issues that plagued the event last year–namely the space restraints, that have since been resolved. They also talk about the partnership with Capcom, and the difficulties of being the inaugural stop on the Capcom Pro Tour.

Learn Your Optimal Whiffed Moves to Build Meter in The King of Fighters XIV

Building enough meter and resources is an important part of many games, and The King of Fighters XIV is no exception. In KOF XIV meter-building is particularly important, as that valuable resource gets passed onto your other team members, too. You build meter through getting hit and attacking, but you also build this valuable resource from whiffing specific moves.

Gato Ray is here with another tutorial on how exactly to get the most out of your team. This time he covers how exactly to test your fastest meter gaining tactic, as far as whiffing your moves is concerned. Setting the training dummy to repeat an action and timing how long it takes to gain a bar will tell you your character’s fastest meter gain option, so be sure to use this to optimize your own play.

Guardian of the Azure, Es, Displays Her Prowess in This BlazBlue: Central Fiction Combo Video

Es, the Guardian of the Azure, asserts her place in the cast of BlazBlue: Central Fiction with an interesting Drive mechanic and a balanced repertoire of attacks. She uses Type: Enchanter to power up her next move, which leads to longer combos. For instance, her Dragon Punch move will end combos, unless she has her next move charged.

Monarch returns with a new combo movie, “Cerulean Guardian,” which examines the combo possibilities of the DLC character. The video gives an extended look at how to perform highly damaging confirms when given the resources, as well as how to pressure or counter some reversals. There’s also a few interesting loops with her normal attacks.

Check out Monarch’s Es combo movie below. Their channel also includes an Es 6D mix-up tutorial and some Es match footage vs. Ragna.

Chaos Code: New Sign of Catastrophe is Coming to PlayStation 4 and Steam on March 15th

It has been bubbling away in the background for a while now, but FK Digital and Arc System Works have finally announced a US release date for Chaos Code: New Sign of Catastrophe. Acting as an enhanced port of the original Chaos Code from the last generation of consoles, this fast-paced anime fighter adds two brand new fighters, Lupinus and Ray, a color change mode, and probably the most important feature: online play.

The lack of online play for the original Chaos Code really stifled the growth of its community, so this enhanced rerelease should garner a larger following. Plus, it’s only $19.99, so it’s one of the cheaper fighting games set to come out in 2017. FK Digital are currently working on the arcade sequel to Chaos Code, so potentially expect a port of that if Chaos Code: New Sign of Catastrophe does well.

Chaos Code: New Sign of Catastrophe launches on both Steam and PS4 March 15th.
