World of Tanks – Nearly $85K Raised for War Child Charity

In 2016, Wargaming partnered with War Child during a World of Tanks event called the Armistice Campaign. A special package of items and several unique emblems were offered during the event with 100% of Wargaming’s share earmarked for War Child. Through these digital sales, World of Tanks players, nearly $85,000 was donated to the UK charity.

Arc System Works announces $10,000 pot bonus for Evo 2017’s Guilty Gear and BlazBlue tournaments

In a recent Arc System Works stream–the same one that showed off the new opening for REV 2–the news of Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2’s and BlazBlue: Central Fiction’s inclusion in Evo 2017 was celebrated with the announcement of a $10,000 prize pool bonus for each title.

This is obviously a very significant contribution to the pot, which is only piling on to the already feverish hype for these anime games both taking their place on the main stage this year. This also might be a good sign for ASW’s future plans for the community, as they may be looking to provide even more support in the days to come.

Wild Terra – Largest Update Ever Brings a New Zone, Monsters & More

Wild Terra has been updated with what the team calls “one of the largest updates” in the game’s history. Among other things, players will be able to begin exploring the Corrupted Lands with its new monsters,Players will not be able to build there (yet?) but there are more than a few enclaves into which settlers have gathered.

Cloud9 hints at sponsoring Street Fighter V players, requests applicants

Formed in 2012, Cloud9 is one of America’s–if not the world’s–largest and most successful esports organizations. They’ve sponsored players and teams in over nine different games, and brought home championships in the majority of them. While the company’s main focus has been first person shooters and MOBAs, they have a couple of fighting game players under their umbrella too, in the form of Smash pros Joseph “MangO” Marquez and Elliot “Ally” Carroza-Oyarce.

Recently, the company completed a Series A round, which is a term used to describe the first time a company performs a large round of venture capital financing. With almost serendipitous timing, Cloud9 owner Jack Etienne had an interview with PVP live, and dropped the following brief quip:

I love Street Fighter. If you’re a talented player contact danan@cloud9.gg and let us know you’re interested in Cloud9.

It doesn’t get more straightforward then that. Considering how highly competitive Cloud9 is, it’s difficult to think this offer will go to someone that hasn’t already been doing well on the major tournament scene. Still, it’s worth keeping an eye on the company to see who they give their prefix to next.
