Rise Nation enters the FGC by signing Martin ‘MaRN’ Phan

If you just follow the fighting game tournament scene and nothing else, Rise Nation eSports may not be a name you’re familiar with, as the team was formed  to compete in the 2014 Call of Duty Championships. Rise has since expanded into sponsoring Overwatch and now, Street Fighter V players. Their first pick up is the original Evil Genius himself, Martin ‘MaRN’ Phan.

Though RISE | MaRN’s talents extend across many fighting games, Rise Nation seems to focus strictly on his SFV skills, making particular note of his ‘Pool of Death’ run at NorCal Regionals almost a year ago.

Chaos Code: New Sign of Catastrophe is out on PC and PlayStation 4 in English

Arc System Works brought the latest installment of Chaos Code, subtitled “New Sign of Catastrophe,” to the western audience. The revision to the original Chaos Code, which includes more content, is now purchasable on Steam and PlayStation Store.

New Sign of Catastrophe introduces Lupinus and Ray and adds new moves to other characters in the game. There’s online play in either mode, but no crossplay.

The Steam version of Chaos Code normally runs for $19.99, but it’s discounted to $17.99 until March 22nd. It’s available digitally from the PlayStation Store for $19.99.

This version came out back in November 2016 in Asia, and we’ve reported on a useful beginner primer on Chaos Code mechanics. Furthermore, Crimefighter compiled a new, useful Chaos Code beginner Steam guide to quickly pick up this fighter.

Smash comes to Atlantic City with Royal Flush, a Super Smash Bros. Melee and Wii U tournament from May 12-14th

Get ready to hit the sticks and the tables as Super Smash Bros. heads to Atlantic City this May. With a $10,000 combined pot for both Melee and Smash 4 and hosted at the Tropicana Resort and Casino, Royal Flush is set to be one for the high rollers. Both games will have their finals in the grand Tropicana Showroom Theater, so expect quite the show if you choose to attend this event.

Going with the casino theme and as a result of discussions about the length of Melee’s in-game timer, Royal Flush will be trialing a seven minute timer instead of the usual eight minutes. I doubt it will cause that many changes to normal games but it is worth an experiment at a large event like this.

If you are interested in heading to Atlantic City this May, early bird registration is available till the end of March where prices will increase from $40 to $50. Spectator passes will also be available and the Royal Flush TO team are planning to have a hotel promo code on their smash.gg page post-haste.

With TSM|Leffen, Liquid|Hungrybox, CLG|SFAT, Hax$ and more already signed up to attend, Royal Flush is looking like an event worth attending near the beginning of this year’s summer of Smash.
