Brush up on Tekken’s lore: Part 1 of the “Tekken Retro Recap”

With Tekken 7 promising to conclude the series-long Mishima Saga, Bandai Namco Entertainment America is looking to help players brush up on the franchise’s overall lore–with part 1 of the Tekken Retro Recap.

Created with help from Dutton Films Animation, This comical video goes through a brief summary of the Mishima’s history within the first three games, recapping scenes of Tekken 1-3 in an 8-bit, sprite-based, RPG-style format–complete with some remixed themes. Moments such as Heihachi throwing Kazuya off of a cliff (and then into a volcano), Paul’s battles with Kazuya and Ogre, Kazuya walking out after Jun’s pregnancy, and Heihachi’s grandparenting skills have never been more hilarious. If you’re looking to brush up on your history–or if you’re just in the mood for a quick laugh–this recap is a great watch!

Stay tuned to their channel, as a Part 2 focusing on Tekken 4-6 is likely coming soon. What are some of your favorite moments from the first 3 Tekken games? Share them with us in the comments below!

Tekken 7 is set to be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam on June 2nd.
