Sudden boom seen in Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- owners after Dragon Ball FighterZ announcement

Sales-estimating website SteamSpy is reporting a sudden burst in PC sales for Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-; the timing of this surge coincides with the announcement of ArcSystemWorks’s upcoming anime fighter, Dragon Ball FighterZ. It appears new players are diving into the ASW catalog to prepare themselves for the impending Dragon Ball title.

On June 8, SteamSpy reported 37,600 owners for the popular air-dashing fighter. On June 9, the first reports of DBFZ’s existence were leaked. June 11 was the official announcement of Dragon Ball FighterZ. By June 11, SteamSpy estimated a new total of 46,366 owners, an increase of 8,766 total in 3 days. That’s about 19% of total sales for the game over three days. BlazBlue: Central Fiction also had a small push of about 2,000+ owners.

It is worth noting that SteamSpy is not 100% accurate, as it measures owners and not actual sales. However, the spike is quite unlike anything Xrd has seen on the Steam platform since its release.
