No specific reason for this shutdown is known yet — if Capcom is adding anything, it’s a surprise for now. New incoming content may yet be revealed at E3, much like the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Story Mode demo.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Story Mode demo will be available tonight
You’ll be able to play Marvel soon than expected, as Sony has announced that there will be a Story Mode demo of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite available later today (on both PlayStation 4, and Xbox One). This news comes from Sony’s E3 press conference, where a new trailer revealed tons of new characters. By the looks of it, the previous character leak from NeoGAF was pretty spot on, as this trailer introduced:
- Dante (in his classic DMC3 design)
- Arthur
- Doctor Strange
- Spencer
- Nova
- Thanos
- Gamora
- Black Panther (most likely a DLC/Deluxe Edition-only character)
- Zero
As for MvC:I’s story, it has Capcom and Marvel heroes splitting up to find the Infinity Stones, while Ultron-Sigma pursues them across time and space. The Mad Titan and usual holder of the Infinity Gauntlet Thanos seems to have entered into a hasty truce with the heroes, as he not only tells them where each stone is, but fights back against Ultron-Sigma.
It also seems more likely that we’ll be getting a Monster Hunter character, as the Time Stone is located in what looks like the Great Desert from Monster Hunter 4, based on the markings and statues in the background. The Dah’ren Mohran right at the trailer’s end is also a dead giveaway.
The PlayStation servers are no doubt overloaded with people trying to access the Story Mode demo, so you might give it some time to cool off before checking yourself. As of this writing, it has not yet appeared in the PlayStation Store.
UPDATE: Matthew Edwards clarifies:
The MvCI story demo will be available at 4am on PS4 and 6am on Xbox One, both UK time.

Over in North America, expect the demo to appear on PSN at 8:00 PM PDT, and 10:00 PM for the Xbox One version.
