Injustice 2 Watchtower livestream to discuss upcoming balance patch today at 1:00 PM PST

With the dust now fully settled from Evo, and the final character of Fighter Pack 1, Starfire, set for an August release, the Injustice 2 Watchtower livestream returns today to discuss the details of the game’s upcoming balance patch. Since Injustice 2‘s release, NetherRealm Studios has displayed an uncharacteristic — but welcome — hands-off approach to their newest title, as previous patches have mostly just implemented bug fixes and quality-of-life changes to the game. The only balance changes so far have come in the form of removing unintended block infinites and combos off of throw techs utilizing certain character’s Traits, along with some slight adjustments to some of the Gear Abilities not seen in competitive play.

Though this was done in an attempt to wash away their previous stigma of being “patch happy,” NRS has stated their intention to shake things up following the conclusion of Fighter Pack 1, and will be discussing some of the changes they’ll likely be implementing for the DC brawler’s first proper rebalancing. Though we have seen the first four major tournaments taken by four different players using at least four different characters, there seems to be a generally agreed-upon top and bottom tier already, with the likes of returning veterans Black Adam, Aquaman, Superman, Batman, Catwoman and newcomers Deadshot and Atrocitus sitting at the top of the food chain, while Swamp Thing, Captain Cold, Gorilla Grodd and The Joker seem to be in need of some minor adjustments to improve their current standing.

The stream will be going live later today at the usual time of 3:00 PM CST (1:00 PM PST) at https://www.twitch.tv/netherrealm. You can see the announcement Tweet below.

Morrigan, Zero, Thor, X, Strider Hiryu, Chun-Li, & Doctor Strange shine in this Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite SDCC footage

In the last batch of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite videos from Maximilian that we shared, the focus on was newly announced characters Haggar, Nemesis, Frank West, and Gamora. In this next video however, Maximilian puts the spotlight back on some characters who were announced long ago.

The video below shows off some pretty interesting-looking things for characters such as Morrigan, Zero, X, Thor, Strider Hiryu, Chun-Li, and Doctor Strange. We’ve all seen these characters in previous builds and demos for the game- – however, some of the stuff shown here is quite fresh. This includes a demonstration of what Morrigan can do now that she can fly-cancel her air normals on whiff (both in the neutral and in combos); some of the combos that Doctor Strange can do; setups for Strider Hiryu’s Vajra on tag-in; kara-grabs for Thor; Reality Stone extensions for Chun-Li; Zero being Zero; and more.
