desk performs 6-button Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition combos on 3-button Mega Drive controller

If you were button mashing in the ’90s, you are likely familiar with the original 3-button Sega Mega Drive pad (or Sega Genesis in North America). When Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition was released, a 6-button controller was launched simultaneously. Which makes sense. Street Fighter is a 6-button game. I mean, only a true masochist would play that on a 3-button pad, right? Right?

And that’s where desk, arguably the FGC’s most creative combo video creator, steps into frame. You see, the 3-button pad defaults to all punches. To switch to kicks, you have to hit the Start Button. And this is where desk’s challenge comes in: to perform normally standard (and not-standard!) combos with the additional hurdle of constantly having to hit start between hits.

– Fractured Races Explored – 3 Types, 3 Different Stories

The Fractured team reached out to us earlier today with news about the first-ever developer blog post on the SpatialOS-based sandbox MMO. According to the first sentences, the team is out to “innovate the MMO genre” and one way to do that is to have races with vastly different experiences in the game. In Fractured, races will matter and be an important aspect of a player’s entire experience.

THE COOL KID93 shows off a new Crush Counter V-Trigger setup for Street Fighter V’s Alex

THE COOL KID93 might be one of the hardest-working Alex players in the Street Fighter V tournament scene right now. Where many abandoned the character after a series of (bizarre) nerfs, Cool Kid continues to develop useful and frightening mixup tech for the 3rd Strike grappler.

By canceling your counter-hit sweeps with V-Trigger, Alex gets both a guaranteed V-Skill and a setup that beats 3-frame jabs. This tool, when mixed up with command grab, allows Alex to liquify his opponent’s lifebar in a few short guesses. For those in doubt of its practicality, Cool Kid even shows off in-game uses of his new setups at the end of the demonstration.

DC Universe Online – New Water Powerset & Two Additional Episodes Round Out 2017

The DC Universe Online site has been updated with a preview of what players can expect throughout the balance of 2017. Players will be fighting for “the oceans, Gotham and the Multiverse” in two new Episodes, “Riddled with Crime” and “Earth”. As part of the undersea content, players will have the new Water Powerset to explore. These new episodes will launch in September and November, while the Water Powerset will be splashing into the game on August 30th.

Talon Esports signs Kevin “Saunic” Souvanheuane

As the world recovers from the spectacle that was Evo 2017, many esports organizations are starting to look to the fighting game community to find new players that can represent them. The latest player to get picked up by a team is Hong Kong’s Kevin “Saunic” Souvanheuane, who has been signed by Talon Esports.

Saunic has recorded a number of impressive performances in tournaments in the region. These include a second place finish in Thaiger Uppercut, and a 8th place finish at the Hong Kong eSports festival last year. Both helped him reach the rank of 61 in the Capcom Pro Tour worldwide rankings last year.

Talon Esports is a Hong Kong-based esports organization, that usually competes in the Greater China Area. More known for competing in Blizzard’s Overwatch, Talon recently entered into the world of competitive fighting games by signing Taiwanese Street Fighter V player Xaiobao — who finished 9th at Evo 2017.
