X-Kira discovers barrel bonus stage in Street Fighter V

It seems that data miner X-Kira is on a roll as of late. Recently, they had uncovered evidence of a working arcade mode, and other costumes and stages in Street Fighter V. However, that’s not yet the full extent of what they’ve found — it seems that they’ve now found evidence of a bonus stage in the game as well.

Specifically, the data in question seems to be for the classic falling barrels bonus stage from Street Fighter II and Super Street Fighter IV.  The bonus stage itself isn’t playable in any form as of yet, however, as the video below shows, files and references to it exist in the games code.

Famitsu interview sheds light on the upcoming BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle game

Since Evolution 2017, we haven’t really heard anything regarding one funky project: the BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle game, which includes characters from the BB, Persona, Under Night In-Birth, and RWBY series. Recently, Toshimichi Mori gave an interview with Famitsu regarding the project, which is coming sometime in 2018. Video producer Novril translated some tidbits from it and summarized them on Twitter.

Here are the Tweets Novril made about the Famitsu article (after the first one, the text is copied verbatim).

2. Straight to homes this time, no arcade version.

3. This game is not a sequel to the BlazBlue series and does not continue the BB story.

4. It will not play similar to BlazBlue. It’s a brand new game with a brand new system.

5. Designed from the ground up to be pad friendly.

6. The game will have a story mode that will revolve around the cross over between all the different worlds.

7. They revealed the game early in development because they want fans to tell them which characters from the franchises they want the most.

8. Currently no plans to add Guilty Gear characters despite being aware of the requests.

9. Currently no more additional franchises planned other than the current 4, but they want to expand in the future if possible.

10. Though it will be done very conservatively and carefully, to handle and present each franchise with respect.

11. Many character models don’t fit well with each other visually (especially UNI) so they are also reworking sprites.

12. Most of the characters picks for the roster are already set in stone, but still see #7.

13. The game’s main target crowd is the fans abroad rather than in Japan.

14. Also Mori said BlazBlue’s story isn’t over, just Ragna’s saga.

What do you think of the points above? It looks like Arc System Works is listening to players when it comes to which characters may make it in. Whether they’ll form a formal poll, we’ll see.

The Tekken World Tour comes to your home with special online regional tournaments

For those who cannot make it out to Tekken World Tour qualifiers, your prayers have been answered. In a collaboration between Level|Up and Bandai Namco Entertainment, the Tekken World Tour is to have special online qualifiers for each region in the tour.

Starting this Sunday, you can earn Ranking points in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas by competing in one of these two-day tournaments. Much like offline TWT events, you can only earn points in the region you are a legal resident of. There will be tournaments on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, so all Tekken 7 competitors get a fair chance of earning Ranking points. The full schedule is as follows:

Australia:
Bracket play: Sunday, August 13
Finals: Wednesday, August 16

NA West:
Bracket play: Sunday, August 20
Finals: Tuesday, August 22

Southeast Asia:
Bracket play: Sunday, August 20
Finals: Wednesday, August 23

EU West:
Bracket play: Sunday, August 27
Finals: Tuesday, August 29

NA East:
Bracket play: Sunday, September 10
Finals: Tuesday, September 12

EU East:
Bracket play: Sunday, September 10

East Asia:
Bracket play: Sunday, September 10

To register for one of these events, head over to the TWT smash.gg page. Keep in mind that you must have a wired connection to compete in these online events, so WiFi warriors need not apply. Make sure to check out the full Tekken World Tour rules before entering any of these events, to save yourself any hassle come competition day.
