We finally have a release date for this unusual arena fighter, and I’m looking forward to it. The closed beta is also downloadable for PlayStation 4 today — did you get your code?

It’s been quite a while since UDON’s Street Fighter Unlimited comic series wrapped up, so this collection is long due. Good to see some progression towards store shelves, albeit slowly.

tekkenbowlTekken 7 sets an August 31st launch date for DLC Pack #1, adds Tekken Bowling and costumes

Gotta say, I much prefer this idea of getting new costumes just for having the season pass, rather than a certain Capcom game’s constant single-shot premium outfits… and Tekken Bowling might prove to be a fun diversion.

Android 16 DBFZDragon Ball FighterZ slated for a February 2018 release; Closed beta sign-ups are now open

With a steady stream of gameplay footage coming out of Gamescom, the FGC’s hunger for this title is only growing stronger!

Frame 5:

Branded as Super Street Fighter V or not, the evidence mounts that we’ll be seeing some significant additions to Street Fighter V — and the sooner, the better.

It’s awesome to see that Pokkén is still chugging along, and these Championships were great fun. Tonosuma has put himself firmly in the conversation for best in the world at this point — just in time for the release of Pokkén DX!

Frame 2:
MagentaShoryuken preview: Paradise Arcade Shop’s Magenta could be most customizable lever ever created

It’s fascinating to see the inventiveness of the FGC at work, and in the Magenta it has been put to work and then some. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing whether this is picked up by the FGC at large, or will just end up something of a curiosity. 

Frame 3:
Earth RomancerEarth Romancer shows off its anime/platform fighter inspirations in new gameplay trailer

I’m not going to lie, my first impressions of Earth Romancer were not good. With this trailer, however, my interests are truly piqued, and I’ll definitely be giving it a go when it comes out.

Frame 4:
NES30 StickShoryuken review: 8Bitdo NES30 Arcade Stick for Nintendo Switch

With a new console comes new sticks, and we’ve got our hands on one of the very first for the Nintendo Switch. It may not be the best possible start, but it’s certainly not bad.

Frame 5:
RoA Ori and SeinOri and Sein are now available to play in Rivals of Aether

Not only does Rivals of Aether get a full release this week, but also an awesome new guest character in the shape of Ori and Sein. I’ve managed to have a go with them, and they’re a fascinating duo to mess around with.

Capcom’s staff take Jedah, Dormammu, Firebrand, and Ghost Rider for a spin in this Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite footage

As some of you may know, Maximilian got a chance to try out the Gamescom build of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite before at Capcom’s headquarters before the show itself. As part of this, he got the chance to record some of the staff and development team at Capcom playing the game.

In the footage below, Capcom’s staff is mostly playing the game with the newly announced characters (Ghost Rider, Jedah, Dormammu, and Firebrand). This should give us a clearer look at the abilities of these characters, with them in the hands of the people most intimately familiar with them — and the game in general — at this time.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite hits PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 19.

It’s been an insane year for non-MMO releases. There have been more “Game of the Year” candidates in the first 8 months than any year I can remember. But it’s been decidedly slower in the MMO and “almost” MMO world. We’ve had some bright spots, but the bulk of what I’m personally waiting for is coming in the next three months. So let’s hear it… what games are on your must play list for the remainder of 2017?
