Capcom vs. SNK 2 is seeing a bit of a resurgence as of late. The game, however, has a lot of systems to learn due to the number of Groove variations, and can be daunting to newer players. Even if you learn your Groove of choice, you must at least have some sort of understanding of your opponents’ Grooves, so that you know what they’re capable of.

Fortunately, Silentscope has started a tutorial series on the game, kicking off by featuring the basics of the game as well as a tutorial on how to use C-Groove to its fullest potential. C-Groove is similar to the play of games like Street Fighter Alpha 2 — with a few variations from it that need to be taken into mind — and is a great Groove for people just learning CvS2.

Though many (not all!) fighting game developers don’t allow you to see the actual hitboxes, understanding their role in the game you play is critical to your development as a player.

Sea Leaf Dojo recently put out an educational video on the way hitboxes, hurtboxes, and collision boxes shape interactions in fighting games. Its a great starting point for those curious to know what’s going on behind the scenes of their favorite fighters.
