Excel in Street Fighter EX2 combos without Excel in this excellent combo video

With the alliterations in the title aside, Street Fighter EX2 is known for some pretty creative combos with its loose cancel mechanics and the Excel system — which acts similarly to the custom combo modes in Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Capcom vs. SNK 2.

With ARIKA’s current-generation fighter coming next year — and currently lacking an alternative to Excel, there are less mechanics to use for extending combos. However, is that really necessary? With this combo video that leaves out Excel in Street Fighter EX2, and focuses on the three characters that were available for play at Evo 2017, it shows that the combo system is still very deep even taking away one of the most vital parts of the mechanics.

Put a bit of spring in your step with this Spring Stadium jazz cover from ARMS

Let’s face it, we all need some chill out time after our sets. Fortunately, The Consouls haven’t forgotten about the fighting game scene with a couple of releases in the last month, this being one of them.

Straight out of Nintendo’s title ARMS, they have now released a jazz cover of Spring Man’s theme — Spring Stadium. With some smooth bass and sax added into some amazing improvisation, and you have a beautiful arrangement for an awesome theme.

Fight of Gods is now available on Steam, complete with Jesus and Buddha

When first announced, Fight of Gods looked to be your standard heavenly brawler with the usual assortment of deities from the Norse, Chinese and Greek pantheons. Then developer Digital Crafter announced that the prophet Moses was playable, with the Ten Commandments at his weapon. Now, as Fight of Gods launches on Steam Early Access, Digital Crafter has revealed that Jesus and Buddha are also joining the roster.

While Buddha is an out there choice, this is the first time I have ever seen the Son of God in a fighting game. He joins as the roster after literally tearing himself down from the True Cross and using the arms as make-shift knuckle dusters. It brings a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘cross-up’.

I’m a bit rusty on my Bible knowledge, but I don’t remember the part of the Gospel of Matthew where Jesus beats all the money lenders in a first-to-ten. You may find his frame data hidden in the Book of Numbers though. If you want to give Fight of Gods a try, it’s currently available on Steam Early Access for $4.79.
