The SRK Rollback: Best of September 22-28, 2017
Welcome to the Rollback: a frame-by-frame look back at our past week’s most notable news — and our favorite SRK articles — from September 22 to September 28, 2017!
Zavian “mushin_Z” Sildra, Editor-in-Chief:
Frame 1:
Shoryuken review: Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is still a true Marvel vs. Capcom game
d3v goes into great detail about what this new Versus game does right, what it does wrong, and how its design draws from its classic predecessors.
Frame 2:
Pokkén Tournament DX beats out Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite on the UK sales chart
Pikachu smacked Ryu square in the crotch when it comes to sales figures in the UK. While this reflects the respective acceptance of each title by the wider, “casual” market, it makes one wonder as to how much reach each game will have in the FGC.
Frame 3:
BornFree talks about his personal top ten most-wanted changes to a potential Super Street Fighter V
In this response to fans’ Q&A requests, BornFree lays out what he wants to see for Super Street Fighter V — if such a thing ever comes around.
Sam “Trilby” Foxall, Assistant Editor:
Following Street Fighter V‘s recent content update, X-Kira has been hard at work. His latest findings have found what could be the template for SFV‘s long-awaited Arcade Mode.
As a huge Killer Instinct fan, I’m looking forward to new blood picking the game up, now that it’s on Steam. It’s 25% off during its launch week so now’s the time to give it a go. Fight on!
Frame 3:
Fuudo and Nemo showcase ARIKA’s new fighter in this exhibition from Tokyo Game Show
If you missed it during Tokyo Games Show last week, you can now catch up on Nemo and Fuudo’s exhibition for ARIKA’s still unnamed fighter. I have to say, Fuudo’s Allen Snider is already looking deadly.

Frame 1:
Shoryuken interview: L.E.S talks about Northern Arena, M. Bison, and the rising Toronto scene
As someone from a somewhat smaller scene, it’s always fascinating to see the spotlight turned on some under-known places. L.E.S has a lot to say about how his own scene is developing, and it’s a great read.
Frame 2:
Italian fashion brand Diesel to produce limited-edition “DIESEL X STREET FIGHTER” sneakers
MarkMan isn’t the only sneakerhead in the FGC — at least, Diesel hopes not. These Street Fighter-styled sneakers look fabulous, despite being a bit pricey. The M. Bison pair is my personal favorite.
Frame 3:
Garireo’s epic comeback at CEOtaku is a throwback to his Evolution 2014 victory
BlazBlue has brought the hype for years, with top 8 experiences almost always among the most exciting at any given event. Garireo’s victory at CEOtaku is just one more piece of proof, and it’s fun looking back at how it reflects his success at EVO 2014.

Marvel and Capcom discuss bringing a legacy to life in Part 1 of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite BTS
With the latest chapter in the historic Vs. series, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, now available worldwide, Marvel Entertainment has released the first part of a behind-the-scenes documentary about this newest iteration in the storied franchise, entitled: “Bringing a Legacy to Life.”
In the short three-minute piece, the title’s producer, Capcom’s Mike Evans, alongside Capcom’s Associate Brand Manager, Brett Elston and Executive Creative Director of Marvel Games Bill Rosemann, speak about the long-standing legacy of the Vs. series, and how special older titles such as X-Men vs. Street Fighter were to them when they were younger, as well as the massive positive response the game’s initial announcement received back in December when it was first unveiled at the PlayStation Experience.
Rosemann felt that now is the proper moment to release the next step in the crossover series, as both franchise’s characters are “at the height of their popularity.”
“It’s been [six] years since the last game, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and we felt that the time was right. Fans has been clamoring for a new installment of the game, and we said, ‘Now’s the time. Let’s get the team back together again.’ I remember when we first announced the game, the room erupted. Grown men and women were hugging each other and jumping up and down, and they had signs, and there was weeping. Everyone was asking, ‘When’s Marvel? When’s Marvel?’ and we were finally able to say, ‘Marvel’s coming.’”
In regards to the significant changes to the battle system, compared to the previous 17 years of history and tradition, Evans felt it was time for a return to the original roots of the series.
“We made some bold decisions, to move away from the past [17] years, which has been a 3V3 game, to a 2V2 system. It was a big shift, but we feel it goes back to what the core of the game is, which, when it comes down to it, it’s the partnership between your main character and your partner character. It goes back to the heart of the crossover game.”
Other topics included the development process, the passion of the fans, the history of the franchise, as well as what they believe makes the series so special and dear to all of us in the community. You can see the full video below.

NetherRealm Studios confirms a fix on the way for recent Gear deletion issue in Injustice 2
Earlier this week, NetherRealm Studios released the October update for Injustice 2, in preparation of the upcoming release of the game’s next DLC character, Mortal Kombat‘s God of Thunder, Raiden. Unfortunately for players everywhere, the implementation of the latest patch “in the wild” brought forth a massively unintended issue, as users reported that the patch deleted all of their Gear they had collected before September 25th.
WB Games and NRS have both been quick to respond to this situation, with the official Injustice 2 Twitter account tweeting that, “A patch will be available soon that will stop the deletion of Gear. Apologies for the delay, and we thank you for your patience!” Meanwhile, WB Games Support suggests that players who have lost any Gear obtained before September 25th should try and reboot the game after installing the patch. This should clear up any issues, but regarding Gear that was acquired after this past Monday, the site noted that the team was still investigating this issue.
Update: a patch will be available soon that will stop the deletion of Gear. Apologies for the delay and we thank you for your patience!

Though this has understandably been a frustratingly unfortunate event for many players, it’s good to see that NRS is taking action this quickly, and will no doubt be rolling out a corrective patch to improve the situation imminently.
Have any of you been impacted by this issue? If so, did the suggested method allow you to fully recover your earned Gear, or any other content you may have lost? Let us know in the comments below.
