A work-in-progress Super Smash Bros. for Wii U mod brings back wavedashing and Melee-esque air dodges

Prayers for a Melee HD may soon be answered, thanks to an upcoming Smash 4 mod. Creatively titled “Melee HD,” modders are currently in the process of implementing a Melee-esque air dodge into Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. By making Smash 4’s air-dodge similar to Melee’s, this also adds wavedashing into the game — something that fans have been clamoring for since the launch of SSB4.

The mod is very much a work-in-progress, with the team still having to tweak some elements to make air-dodges identical to Melee’s. Even so, it is a fantastic proof-of-concept and will no doubt see some fans dusting off their Wii Us and trying this mod out. So far, the Melee HD team have been able to remove ledge trumping, re-add ledge invincibility, as well as jump-canceled grabs and Shine. Once they manage to remove Rage, I’ll instantly be downloading the mod.

Treat someone to a $6770 golden Blanka ring this Christmas, as part of U-Treasure’s Street Fighter collection

Looking to splash out on some Street Fighter merchandise this holiday season? Well, Japanese jewelry store U-Treasure has recently come out with their own line of Street Fighter-themed jewelry and skateboards. Don’t go reaching your Fight Money just yet though, as you’ll need to have won Capcom Cup just to afford some of the products on offer.

The skateboards are Street Fighter V themed, with one showing Akuma, the other Rashid and F.A.N.G, and the last one depicting Ryu and Chun-Li. The most expensive pieces in this line are 18-carat gold necklaces, earrings and rings, inspired by characters from Street Fighter: there are gold versions of Guile’s dog tags, Chun-Li’s spiked bracelets, Ryu’s gloves, Dhalsim’s skull necklace and Zangief’s belt. An 18-carat gold ring in the shape of Blanka’s head takes the cake though — costing 756,000 yen (around $6770).

For Street Fighters on a budget, you can plump for the silver version of each item, with each one costing about a tenth of the gold version. Personally, I’ll stick to spending my hard-earned cash on the next 50 Chun-Li costumes.

Take advantage of these digital Black Friday deals for Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, Tekken, & Mortal Kombat for PC

It’s that time of year again: when people line up in stores to take advantage of massive discounts. However, taking advantage of Black Friday deals doesn’t necessarily mean having to take part in the rush. Thanks to digital retailers, players can take advantage of discounts from the comfort of their homes.

For fighting game players, we’ve got a number of deals on PC for a variety of fighting games from specific digital retailers. A number of Capcom titles are on sale over at Green Man Gaming; these include both Street Fighter V and Ultra Street Fighter IV, as well as Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Even Street Fighter X Tekken is added into the mix.

Bandai Namco, on the other hand, has Tekken 7 on sale over at GamersGate. This is on top of various anime arena fighters based on the Dragon Ball, and Naruto franchises.

Finally, Mortal Kombat X and its XL update are both on sale over at Fanatical, a.k.a. the site formerly known as Bundle Stars.

Crowfall – The Business Side: Live Q&A and Developer Blog
