Brussels Challenge Road to Evo Japan #2 results

This past weekend, ZOWIE sponsored some major fighting game action in Brussels, Belgium, as the second Brussels Challenge Road to Evo Japan event was held. As its name implied, this was the second of a four-part qualifying series of tournaments that will allow the winner to get their trip to the upcoming Evo Japan in 2018 fully paid for.

The event featured competition in Street Fighter V, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and The King of Fighters XIV. With several members of Epsilon eSports in attendance, as well as CDV|WhiteBl4ck and Millénium|Will2Pac, the competition was guaranteed to be fierce across the entire trio of titles.

Though the competition has officially passed the halfway point, there will still be two more monthly challenges in December and January. ZOWIE will also be giving away a RL2460 gaming monitor. For more information, follow Younes on Twitter @ccl085.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition and Fighting EX Layer will be playable at the 2017 PlayStation Experience

The Sony PlayStation blog has revealed a long list of developers, publishers, and games to grace their upcoming exhibition, the 2017 PlayStation Experience. The expo takes place in Anaheim, California, over December 9th and 10th.

The company published a blog with a “near-final” list of playable games to hit the floor. From that list, fighting game aficionados can spot a few interesting selections: Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Fighting EX Layer, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, and Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late[st] (possibly in English?). This will be a great opportunity to get a first taste of SFV’s Arcade Edition and to try Fighting EX Layer.

Rumors floating around are also suggesting there may be a surprise SoulCalibur VI reveal; as Sony mentions, the game list isn’t complete. Check out the PlayStation Blog for the list of games.

Online play is free for PlayStation users in Europe this week

Lucky PlayStation 4 users who have lapsed on their Plus membership can take advantage of the service’s biggest benefit for free — at least in Europe. Sony has announced a limited promotion for European owners: users who don’t have a PS Plus membership will still be able to take advantage of online multiplayer for the next few days.

The multiplayer event started this morning of November 15th and runs until Monday, November 20th, 10:00 AM GMT. There’s no need to sign up for anything or take any action. Note though, this promotion doesn’t come with any other benefits that PS Plus entails — such as cloud saving, free games, or discounts on the PS Store.

If you’ve been waiting for an opportunity to challenge some netplay opponents in your favorite fighting game, now’s a great time to get back into the fray.

– Embattled Star Wars: Battlefront II Microtransaction System Taken Offline

It appears that big changes are coming to Star Wars: Battlefront II after a very rough week in the press and its community surrounding the loot box and microtransaction systems. In a move signalling potential change, it seems that microtransactions have been removed from the game. You can no longer purchase the premium currency called Crystals. Both PlayStation Network and the PC version have had the ability to buy Crystals removed completely & in game for XBox One they are out as well.
