VesperArcade breaks down Juri and Alex’s second V-Trigger in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

With January 16th inching ever-closer, speculation continues on the changes to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. VesperArcade recently sat down to chronicle two of the lowest-tier characters — Alex and Juri — and what their changes and new V-Triggers bring to the table.

In his video, he comments that Alex will become more well-rounded, with characters having to block both high and low due to his option to catch high blockers from a long range. Meanwhile, Juri’s V-Trigger looks like it will be more situational, as its ability to drain meter will be more effective on some characters and not as effect on others. However, her ability to hit crouching opponents with her target combo will be a useful addition to her arsenal.

Diablo 3 – The Darkening of Tristram Anniversary Event to Return on January 1st

The Diablo 3 site has been updated with a reminder to players that the Darkening of Tristram event will be making a comeback on January 1st. The event first debuted in January 2017 for the Diablo 1 20th Anniversary and has been deemed an annual event. This year, it begins on the first and ends on the last day of the month so it’s worth check in to grab the exclusive event rewards including the Butcher pet, portrait frames, achievements and a chance at that ever elusive Godly Plate of the Whale!

Check out this attendee regional breakdown for the very first Evo Japan!

2018 is fast approaching, meaning that we’re not far away from the first ever Evo Japan. Being the inaugural event, players from almost every continent are making the pilgrimage to Tokyo, in order to compete in what looks to be the first of many Evo Japan events. While it has a bit of a way to go before it rivals the original Evo’s entrant numbers, there is certainly plenty of competition for each of its main tournaments.

To that end, Japanese site 4Gamer has created a regional breakdown of each tournament, showing where all the competition is coming from for each title. For games like Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 and BlazBlue: Central Fiction, Japan rules the roost but for Tekken 7, The King of Fighters XIV and ARMS, foreign players outnumber Japanese entrants.

For Street Fighter V, Japan makes up 63% of entrants, followed by North America with 15%, Europe with 5% and then Korea and Oceania both at 3%. Despite it being the only tournament to reach over 1000 entrants, it is not the tournament with the most diverse pool of entrants. That award goes to The King of Fighters XIV, where Japan only makes up 45% of the entrants — the rest of the players come from North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, South East Asia and Africa. Shout-outs to the one Micronesian player who is representing their country at KOFXIV!
