– The World Health Organization to Add ‘Obsessive Gaming Disorders’ to Its Classification of Diseases
The World Health Organization (WHO) will be adding “obsessive gaming disorders” to its International Classification of Diseases in 2018. The diagnostic manual will be published sometime in 2018, the first update since 1990. “Health professionals need to recognize that the gaming disorder may have serious health consequences” said Vladimir Poznyak, member of WHO’s Mental Health and Substance Abuse panel.
Dark Age of Camelot – Endless Conquest Limited F2P Announced + Alternative Ruleset Servers
The Dark Age of Camelot site has been updated with a new producer’s letter that takes a retrospective look back at 2017 and a peek ahead at 2018. Most notably, the team has announced “Endless Conquest”, a new account type that will offer the game for free through level 50. Endless Conquest is expected to make its debut in Fall 2018.
Destiny – Music of the Spheres is the Unreleased Album from Destiny 1
A new Reddit thread has popped up that provides players with a link to a previously unreleased album of music from Destiny 1. The album, Music of the Spheres, was composed by Paul McCartney of Beatles fame, Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori. According to Kotaku, the album was never released by Bungie after O’Donnell was fired. The caveat in this is that the album has been released by a user named OS_Epsilon who has shared it and it is not an official Bungie release.
– Accident During Virtual Reality Session Leads to Man’s Death
A 44-year-old man was found dead late last week after apparently falling into a glass table and being cut so severely that he bled out. The accident happened while he was wearing a virtual reality headset and could not see his immediate surroundings. Preliminary findings may indicate that “the game was not properly mapped to the size of his apartment” and resulted in the fall and death. Officials have launched an investigation into the incident after the man’s body was found by his mother.
