Gimmicks. When applied to fighting games, “gimmick” is a vague but useful term to describe moves that seem hard to defend against or beat. Gimmicks have (sometimes not obvious) weaknesses, though, and it’s typically an on-reaction application of knowledge that removes the usefulness of the move completely.

Encore‘s “Gimmick Busters” series aims to prepare you for these knowledge checks, and its most recent tutorial tackles the car-obsessed Abigail in Street Fighter V. “Gimmick Busters” arms you with the knowledge to stop rowdy, random Nitro Runs and stay safe in the neutral, and it’s valuable information for anyone struggling in the Abigail match-up.

In Tekken 7, Geese has proven to be the meeting ground for a lot of different types of players across the FGC. His unique move list has allowed a lot of creativity and flexibility in juggles, and it’s that attribute (and familarity to new 2D converts) that has inspired ApocryphicV‘s new combo video.

This video focuses on Geese’s damage output from parries; Geese has unique utility with his counters — perhaps predictably so — since he can parry knees, guard breaks, and other oddities. He also explores QCB+21 as wall carry: an interesting alternative to the normal HCB+4 options most combo-makers have been using.

We are in an age where there is no lack of options for people needing an arcade stick for fighting games. Much like several of their offerings, Fightstick Asia recently reached out to Jon “Jonyfraze” Bonilla to review their ready-made joystick: the EXC Long Fightstick.

While giving praise to the overall sturdiness and build quality, Bonilla commented that the cable door falls off, like most models that feature it. He also mentioned one particular warning that their circuit board operates in Direct Input mode, something that makes the stick have more difficulties working on PC than the usual Xinput control scheme.
