King of the Monsters is the latest SNK classic coming to Nintendo Switch

Another SNK classic is coming to Nintendo Switch via Hamster’s ACA NEOGEO line. This time, it’s the company’s unique tokusatsu inspired fighting game King of the Monsters.

Released back in 1991, King of the Monsters pays homage to the tokusatsu genre, specifically kaiju films, taking inspiration from their heavy use of pro-wrestling moves and fight choreography, by playing more like a wrestling game than a 2D fighter. The game even had “ring ropes” in the form of an electrified barrier that actually bounced monsters back. Of course, the expanded 3D playing field also allowed for a lot more interactivity, with buildings and structures being destroyed as the monsters moved around, while certain items could also be used as weapons.

In addition to this, the game takes a page from the original Fatal Fury, allowing for some cooperative play. This time however, both players could play until the final boss, unlike in Fatal Fury where they would have to fight it out for the right to continue after beating an opponent.

ACA NEOGEO King of the Monsters was made available for $7.99 on the Nintendo Switch eShop on January 4, 2018. Prior to this, the title was also released as part of the same line on PlayStation 4.

Japanese legends Otochun and Fujimon face off in an epic first to five in Super Street Fighter II Turbo

While Kemonomichi may have brought a lot of hype to Super Street Fighter II Turbo, the hype train does not stop there. With people always thirsty to see top Japanese players square off in the game, MAO recently set up a great match to start off 2018.

In this video, the best Chun-Li in the nation squares off against possibly the best Deejay in the world as Otochun — the Red Bull Battlegrounds champion — battles against Fujimon in an epic first to five set. Regardless of the winner, expect some brilliant play all around between the two.

Maximilian examines Goku Black’s divine brutality in this Dragon Ball FighterZ character breakdown

Following his recent trip to the Bandai Namco Entertainment America offices, Maximilian continues his breakdowns of some of the newest revealed characters in the rapidly-approaching Dragon Ball FighterZ, this time looking at the menacing Goku Black.

Max declares Goku Black to be the “Evil Ryu” of Dragon Ball FighterZ, in that he has the same model as Goku, but has a very different moveset. Max feels Goku Black will be a very tricky, albeit meter-intensive, well-rounded mixup character that can crack open adversaries quite easily, thanks to moves like the Binding Black Kamehameha, God Slicer and Instant Transmission.

God Slicer and Instant Transmission are great for opening people up, particularly with the Heavy/EX versions, which can lead to full-combos, while the Black Kamehameha and Fierce God Kick are standard fireball and divekick fare. As for his Supers, God Slicer Dance and the Holy Light Grenade appear to be solid 1-bar combo enders, despite their relatively low damage, with HLG potentially being screen size-dependent, which will do more damage and hits the higher you are in the air upon releasing it. His Level 3, The Work Of A God, also has a large amount of utility and ways to execute it.

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam PC in most of the world on January 26th. A Japanese release will follow for the same platforms on February 1st. Keep your browser locked to Shoryuken, as Max is still releasing character breakdowns for the remaining members of the base roster at a steady pace.

As gamers, we are often slammed with the stereotype of being fat and lazy in the media. This is something that Zangief main DRDANNYPHAM hopes to break in 2018.

The man who rose to prominence after beating Daigo 3-0 at Red Bull Battlegrounds last year talks about his past struggles with weight. Having been a gamer in the past, he let himself balloon out of control before starting a training regimen that saw him lose his weight and bulk up.

And now, DRDANNYPHAM is giving back to the FGC by offering to mentor one person through six months of physical fitness until CEO, with the deadline looming on January 8. If you looking to build some Muscle Power in 2018, you wouldn’t want to miss out on this offer.
