Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 Venom combo movie challenges you to complete the Assassin trials

It takes a special kind of scientist to play Venom, probably the most calculated character in the Guilty Gear series. This holds true in REV 2, and there’s no better way to start out the new year than with some fresh challenges for the pool-playing fighter.

Sean English takes a bit more of an unusual take on the typical combo movie. His clip, titled “Assassin’s Assimilation,” takes advantage of REV 2‘s challenge record function. In between those challenges, English peppered the video with examples of full-screen carry set-ups, okizeme, and Burst punishes. Among some difficult Bishup Runout combos, there’s a couple of off-the-wall trials with the RISK gauge cranked up to max, and so on.

Deadline approaching to apply for the NYU Game Center Evo Scholarship

So many gamers aspire to working full-time in the video game industry, and would be living a game design dream come true. For fighting gamers, a great inroads to achieving that dream is the NYU Game Center Evo Scholarship, which this year will be offering a full ride scholarship to someone in the FGC who has a passion for game design.

As mentioned by Daigo Umehara recently — who in 2015 donated $60,000 to the scholarship fund after his 2nd place finish at Capcom Cup — the deadline to apply is fast approaching. If you are interested, please make sure you visit the application page and put your name in.

VesperArcade breaks down Chun-Li’s possible return to glory in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

Chun-Li was one of the most heavily-hit characters in Street Fighter V Season 2, suffering a long list of nerfs that saw all but a select few abandon the character. Those players who once played her may find reason to come back to her, if the list of changes reported at the PlayStation Experience remain intact.

Alongside her second V-Trigger — which gives her better conversions off of her pokes  — she has received several changes, including the return of instant air leg combos and the inclusion of a Crush Counter state on forward roundhouse, all of which prove to make her more viable in the coming season.
