It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about Skullgirls Mobile, the accessory to the popular Autumn Games-produced fighting game, which had its own unique playstyle and held exclusive story details. It’s likely the silence had to do with Autumn Games’ dissolved partnership with LINE Corporation, the wildly popular and lucrative Japanese messaging company who was in charge of publishing Skullgirls Mobile.
Despite the publisher woes, Skullgirls Mobile version 2.0 was scheduled and has recently released as planned, but it came a day early and with a little surprise detail: That it was self-published by Autumn Games, and would not be connected to LINE Corporation moving forward.
Though it’s good news that the game is back on track, the new direction could be a bummer for those who were hoping to hang on to their save data from the old version. There was apparently a short window where those who logged in within it could retrieve their save data from the original LINE version, but to those unaware of this detail, they will most likely have to start the game over.
This seems to be a new beginning for Autumn and their mobile game, and for all we know, the new and improved Skullgirls Mobile could be worth an encore completion. You can be the judge yourself as Skullgirls Mobile 2.0 is currently available for free on iOS and Android.
