Hungrybox talks to HTC Esports about his life on top of Super Smash Bros. Melee, and the struggle to get there

Juan “Hungrybox” Debiedma has found himself on the top of the Super Smash Bros. Melee world after a highly successful 2017. But his road was not an easy one, and when asked what’s next, he simply states, “Do you ever have everything you ever wanted, and then once you have it, you’re like, ‘now what?’”

In this interview with HTC Esports, Hungrybox, along with his coach Crunch, talk about their history together — from childhood to adulthood — and his climb to the top through hard work. He also discusses his past, where he was labeled as standoffish — which caused him to lose fans in the beginning of his career — and his future, and what he hopes to achieve in 2018.

Mach Speed! Viewtiful Joe races into Puzzle Fighter on mobile

Movieland’s red hot hero Viewtiful Joe has been announced for Capcom’s new mobile iteration of Puzzle Fighter. His announcement trailer, visible below, shows him activating his superior Mach Speed and employing the use of his iconic Voomerang.

Some Capcom fans may be disappointed that the latest Viewtiful Joe news is not of his appearance in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, but this announcement coupled with the Viewtiful Joe skin for Rashid via the Extra Battle challenges in Street Fighter V are good signs that Capcom is still well-aware of the character’s popularity.

Puzzle Fighter, now featuring Viewtiful Joe, is currently available for free download on iOS and Android.

The Genesis of a rivalry: theScore esports tells the story of Mang0 and Armada’s historic Genesis struggle

If you’re talking about pros in the world of competitive Super Smash Bros. Melee, there is no doubt that players Mang0 and Armada are part of the conversation. The two esports icons have amassed many consistent victories over many years, and have earned their spot as two of the Five Gods of Melee.

But more important than a history of winning is perhaps the rivalry that they share, namely the struggle for top spot in the Genesis tournament series. As long-time Melee tournament spectators know, Mang0 and Armada have met in grand finals at every Genesis since the tournament’s first iteration.

As if that isn’t legendary enough, the two gods have taken turns defeating each other each year, so the time of Genesis 5 comes upon us, the score is currently 2-2.
