Capcom’s Character Popularity Poll lists Sakura as the most popular Street Fighter character

The results are in! For a month in 2017, people weighed in the most popular characters in the Street Fighter universe. Now, with Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition out, Capcom has announced the results — showing the first SFV Season 3 DLC character Sakura as the most popular character in the series.

This list, which features 109 characters, including ones owned by ARIKA from the Street Fighter EX franchise, and even characters from Street Fighter The Movie: The Game, showed every single rank on the list. Rounding out the Top Ten were as follows (including their first appearance in the series):

  1. Sakura (Street Fighter Alpha 2)
  2. Makoto (Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike)
  3. Juri (Super Street Fighter IV)
  4. Q (Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike)
  5. Cody (Final Fight)
  6. Chun-Li (Street Fighter II)
  7. Sagat (Street Fighter)
  8. Akuma (Super Street Fighter II Turbo)
  9. Ryu (Street Fighter)
  10. Blanka (Street Fighter II)

The expanded and updated Third Edition of “Gief’s Gym” is now available on Kindle & paperback!

The Street Fighter V training resource levels up alongside Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition!

Following close on the heels of the release of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, r/StreetFighter’s Joe Munday has completed the third edition of his excellent Street Fighter V training guidebook, Gief’s Gym! The new edition features ten additional chapters and updated information throughout to bring the book up-to-date with the current build of Street Fighter V.

The book is now available on Amazon, available in paperback, Kindle, and Paperwhite versions. Purchases of the paperback version will include a digital copy as well, once Amazon has synced up that feature. (It is currently only available digitally on Amazon.ca, the paperback version will be available in Canada in about a month.) From Amazon.com’s description:

There’s a way to perform one-button instant air dashes in Dragon Ball FighterZ

One of the more important techniques in air dash-based anime fighters is the “instant air dash.” This technique allows players to quickly approach from the air, and set up overhead attacks and mix-ups. Now usually this can take a bit of practice to perform, however a method has been found in Dragon Ball FighterZ that allows players an easier way to do it in that game.

The video below from Austin Murphy demonstrates how this technique is performed. Instead of using the usual double tap into upforward input, the method uses the fact that quickly tapping the command for a Super Dash (R2 or Right Trigger in the default control mapping) results in a normal dash that’s slightly off the ground. By simply tapping forward and Super Dash (making sure not to trigger it), players effectively get a one-button instant air dash in Dragon Ball FighterZ.

As the video demonstrates, this technique was tested in the open beta. Whether or not it remains in the retail game, well, we’ll find out when Dragon Ball FighterZ finally hits PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 26 in the West, and February 1 in Japan.
