Sector K Games show off combos and resets for the latest version of Punch Planet

It’s been a while since we’ve checked in on the sci-fi indie fighting game Punch Planet. This three-man footsie-focused future fighter has been a little quiet on the promotional front, as the developers have been hard at work creating the next character for their series. (That would be the acrobatic soilder G-Agent, whose development they have been streaming live for anyone that wants to see the behind-the-scenes footage of game design.)

As this early-access game is still frequently updated on the Steam platform, that hasn’t stopped the developers from showing off their latest changes. If you haven’t seen the game before, this combo video demonstrates the game’s intricate meter-reliant combo system, resets, and cross-ups.

OpTic Gaming dips its toe in the FGC with OpTic Arena, running from June 8th-10th

One of the premier esports teams in the world of first-person shooters, OpTic Gaming have yet to properly set foot in the crucible of fighting games. That’s about to change this June, as the organization is running an event called OpTic Arena as part of A-Kon in Fort Worth, Texas. Running from June 8th-10th, this event will host tournaments for Dragon Ball FighterZ, Super Smash Bros. Melee and Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, with each game getting a $5000 pot bonus.

Along with the main three events, OpTic Arena will have several exhibition matches, a 24-hour gaming lounge for those who want to play through the night, as well as a bunch of other fun stuff that is yet to be announced. If you are interested in attending, registration is now available over on smash.gg, with a ticket also getting you access to A-Kon in the Fort Worth Convention Center.

Besides this event, OpTiC looks to be scouting out their first FGC player. A recent Tweet from NuckleDu showed the Capcom Cup 2016 champion hanging out at the OpTic Gaming offices — interesting considering Du’s recent split from Team Liquid.

VesperArcade talks about the Evo 2018 lineup in his latest video

Evo 2018 is now officially the biggest topic of discussion with the reveal of the game list for this year’s big tournament. With eight titles on the lineup, people can’t stop talking about what is — and isn’t — in the lineup.

VesperArcade breaks down the game list in his most recent video. During the video, he talks about Arc System Works hints at Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle being considered Blazblue’s successor by supplanting Blazblue: Central Fiction in the roster. But particularly he discusses the two biggest titles in question, Dragon Ball FighterZ and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. He considers the former’s inclusion a possible title to overtake Street Fighter V‘s number of entrants, and also discusses the latter’s both surprising/not surprising exclusion.
