Relive the good old days of fighting games with this Super Just Games tournament footage

While we often discuss the glory days of fighting games, much of the history is remembered only orally. Without the access to broadband internet, YouTube, and streaming services back then, tournament footage has rarely emerged from the early days.

That is changing, as David Spence — with the help of David “Atari” Bibona — has begun to upload a massive amount of footage he recorded from various tournaments. They started over the weekend with footage of Super Just Games — a former Chicagoland staple — hosting their last tournament in 2001. This taped footage features matches of Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and features such players as Seth Killian, as well as rare footage of a young Justin Wong and Arturo Sanchez playing bumper cars.

The footage will continue to pour out beyond this, with Atari streaming the tapes on his Twitch channel before re-hosting it on his YouTube channel!

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle reveals US pricing, English dubbing questions answered

With the inevitable collision of universes imminent in BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, we’re finally hearing some details on the US release of the game. Arc System Works has clarified several points, including the frequently-asked-about English dubbing.

Without further ado, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will have a full English track and dual audio option available. So while we already knew that the RWBY girls will be voiced by their actresses, the rest of the characters feature English voice acting too (marking the debut of Under Night In-Birth fighters in English, as well as certain BlazBlue newcomers, like Es).

Furthermore, there has been much debate about the BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle price, but Arc System Works confirmed details for the US version:

  • Retail price for physical and digital: $49.99
  • Individual DLC packs (there are six): $4.99
  • Complete DLC bundle: $19.99
  • Deluxe Digital Edition (the game with all the DLC): $69.99
  • The first DLC pack, which includes Platinum, Orie, and Kanji, is free for everyone at launch.
  • Per earlier confirmation, Blake Belladona and Yang Xiao Long will be free to download.

The release date is still as expected: May 31st for the Japanese version, and June 5th for the US version. BBTAG will be available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Jonyfraze reviews the Brook X One wireless adapter for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch

While many players who play on pad swear by the PlayStation 4 controller, there are still a few holdouts that prefer Microsoft’s pad offerings. For those that do, Brook now sells the X One adapter, which works wirelessly with the Xbox One controller and syncs with the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

The adapter acts as a wireless sync and a battery replacement for the controller, and adds very little heft to the controller. It also allows you to use Xbox one compatible headsets on your PS4, and has a lot of functionality that is useful for training mode in games such as Street Fighter V.

In this video, Jonyfraze describes the adapter, and praises it for its usability and lack of heft — but notes that the protruding bluetooth sync may cause problems for some players.

Catch the excitement between JDCR and JimmyJTran in Tekken 7 at StrongStyle 6

For Tekken 7 fanatics, StrongStyle 6 was the tournament to attend. With its singular focus on Tekken, the tournament housed some of the best in the game — not only from the United States, but the world.

Grand Finals was quite a shake-up, as Korean legend JDCR faced off against US player JimmyJTran, who has a history for amazing upsets. At Tekken World Tour finals, he was able to best the legendary Knee, preventing him from making it to the main bracket. Could he do the same to the biggest name in Tekken? Find out in this replay.
