It was canceled with nary a mention as to way back in 2015. Maybe one day we’ll see its ideas come to light again?

Sea of Thieves – Final Beta Open to All as It Sets Sail Today & Runs Through March 11th
The final Sea of Thieves beta is set to kick off today and run through Sunday, March 11th. This is the last chance testers will have to play the game prior to its launch on March 20th. It provides the developers with “an opportunity to grow our scale testing to our largest number yet” as well as bringing additional features on board for testing. The final beta is open to anyone via the XBox Store or Microsoft Store. Players will be required to have an XBox Live account to access the download.
