The King of Fighters XIV’s new characters Najd, Heidern, and Oswald will be playable at events in Japan this weekend

With The King of Fighters XIV getting four new DLC characters, some fans may be curious about how they will affect the game’s balance and meta. Fortunately, SNK knows the value of testing, and will be holding preliminary tests of the game with the three currently-revealed characters at a couple of events in Japan next week.

The first of these events will be at AnimeJapan 2018, taking place this weekend from March 24 to 25, at the Tokyo Big Sight Hall. The King of Fighters XIV with Najd, Heidern, and Oswald (as well as the Riyadh stage) will be at the Manga Productions booth at the event on both days.

As previously reported, Manga Productions worked with SNK on the design contest that produced Najd. As such, participants in the test will also receive a special Najd badge.

For anyone attending, take note that they will be running the PlayStation 4 version of the game, using the DualShock 4 controller.

In addition to the AnimeJapan 2018 test, SNK is also holding the THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV Arcade Ver. BURN2FIGHT 2018 event, on Saturday, March 24.  The event will take place at MEGARAGE on the 3rd floor of the Taito Station Mizoguchi.

In addition to the location test, there will also be a mini-concert by the SNK sound team!

Not only is Najd a great design, but its really fantastic of SNK to run a contest to make a fan character come to life. I wish more companies took risks like this.

– Automaton Announces CryEngine Licensing for Mavericks, a 1000 Player Battle Royale

Automaton is currently building an open world shooter MMO called Mavericks that will support up to 1,000 concurrent players. Today, the company also announced a licensing agreement with Crytek to use the CryEngine to build the game with integrated SpatialOS. “It’s that combination at the heart of achieving an incredibly high number of concurrent players in a high-fidelity environment.” said Automaton’s James Thompson.
