Yakuza series Producer Daisuke Sato says it’s up to Harada if fans want to see Kazuma Kiryu in Tekken 7

Though we’ve already seen a trio of guest characters join the world of Tekken 7 — in the forms of Street Fighter’s Akuma, Fatal Fury’s Geese Howard, and Final Fantasy XV protagonist Noctis Lucis Caelum — one name has always seemed to be requested above all others: Yakuza protagonist Kazuma Kiryu.

Last Saturday, during the “Yakuza 6: The Song of Life ‘Essence of Art’ Exhibit” live stream at Gallery Nucleus, SEGA’s Yakuza series Producer Daisuke Sato was asked, “Is this truly the end for Kiryu, or could we maybe expect to see him in future Yakuza games, or maybe crossing over into other games?” — which immediately lead to the room erupting in “TEKKEN!” chants, leading to the following response from Sato:

“As far as it comes down to the whole Tekken thing, if Harada-san actually says he wants to use Kiryu, then hey,” — which lead to another eruption of cheers from the crowd in attendance. He then referenced Kazuma’s previous crossover appearance in Everybody’s Golf 6 as a DLC character. It certainly seems that SEGA and the Yakuza team are wholeheartedly on board with Kiryu potentially joining the King of Iron Fist Tournament sometime in the future, but it’ll of course take Katsuhiro Harada and Bandai Namco Entertainment to make that final call. At the end of the day, it’s certainly a positive development to have their blessing, and could bring his eventual inclusion into the series one step closer. Today’s Injustice 2 Watchtower Livestream will provide a closer look at upcoming Legendary Edition

With the Injustice 2 Legendary Edition set to arrive next Tuesday, the Injustice 2 Twitter account announced yesterday that we’ll be getting a much more detailed look at the new features coming to the title during today’s special Watchtower Livestream.

With new Epic Gear Sets for the entire roster (including all DLC characters), an increased character level cap, which will unlock a new additional Gear Augment slot, a revamped Tutorial Mode known as the “Learn Hub,” a new Bruce Wayne Premier Skin for Batman — along with perhaps some new surprises that may be revealed over the course of the stream.

As always, you can catch all of the action — with the usual crew of NRS Community Specialist Tyler Lansdown, Derek Kirtzic, Steve “16-Bit” Brownback, and more — as the company “dives deep” into the newest edition of their superhero fighter.

NRS have also been teasing some of the new upcoming Epic Gear Sets that will be part of the Legendary Edition, giving us a look at new outfits for Wonder Woman, Scarecrow, and Starfire. In addition, the Legendary Edition patch, which will drop tomorrow, will be converting all player’s currently-unused Regen Tokens into Credits, so make sure you spend them all, or otherwise act accordingly.
