The Battle for the Belt is the next Dragon Ball FighterZ event to put on your calendar. This time, the competition takes place in New York City and will feature 16 of the best players from that region.
Competitors from the past Battle for the Belt tournaments will face each other on March 27th and 28th in a two-day tournament to determine who gets the Belt, and a cash prize. Just like the past fights leading up to this one, it will take place at Microsoft’s esports lounge, Mixer NYC Studio. Among the 16 attendees figure Lord Knight, PAG|Grover, Method|Flux, and more.
The event’s broadcast will begin on March 27th, 7:00 PM ET on the Mixer website. Check out the preview video below:
During last week’s March Arc Nama stream, the hosts played a few exhibition matches in the upcoming crossover tag team fighting game BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. However, this was a noticeably more updated build, as we were finally able to see the game’s victory screen implemented, as well as a Team Preset option that will likely be similar to Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
Most notably however were the newly-implemented Team-specific pre-match intros, which will occur both from pairs of related characters — such as BlazBlue’s Jin Kisaragi and Noel Vermillion — but also between crossover pairings, such as Rachel Alucard and Under Night In-Birth’s Linne. Additionally, it appears that achieving victory with such a duo will also trigger a special victory conversation between the two, as opposed to the standard win quotes spoken by unrelated characters.
We also received a brief, yet revealing, gameplay snippet of the unlikely duo of BlazBlue’s Azrael and Team RWBY’s Blake Belladonna, dishing out some stylish combos as only they can.
Fear not my fellow Tyrants, for though Azrael does appear to lack his Drive (The Terror) certain specials they formerly enhanced, such as Valiant Charge, will now act as if a Weakpoint is permanently applied, allowing the Mad Dog to retain his signature corner carry combos at the expense of 1 Bar of the Skill Gauge to trigger the EX version of the move.
As for Blake, she slices up a helpless Yosuke Hanamura with her Variant Ballistic Chain Scythe: Gambol Shroud, before finishing him off with a Distortion Skill reminiscent of how she defeated Roman Torchwick.

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will be released on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in Japan and Asia on Thursday, May 31st, with a North American release on the same platforms following on Tuesday, June 5th. A European release on PS4 and Switch, published by PQube Games, has been confirmed for this summer.
There hasn’t been much news for Sirlin Games’ in-development indie Fantasy Strike for a while — but today, it was announced that the title will be heading to the Nintendo Switch this summer, alongside releases for PlayStation 4 and PC.
According to David Sirlin:
Fantasy Strike is the perfect fighting game for Switch. The Switch is a take-anywhere console, so fighting games would be great on it if not for how notoriously difficult they are to control. Usually, playing a fighting game on a JoyCon would be tough, but Fantasy Strike is designed specifically for that. Detach the JoyCons, give one to a friend, and you can play a deep, strategic fighting game anywhere.
Fantasy Strike has been in Steam Early Access since September 2017; now we can expect the final version of the game to arrive on all three platforms soon. The exact release date for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and full PC version has not yet been revealed.
