EVE Online – Fanfest Taking to the Road in 2019 for Four Separate Events

During the weekend’s EVE Fanfest 2018, CCP Games revealed that it would be taking the annual event on the road in 2019 for the first time in its history. Fanfest 2019 will take place in four locations: Amsterdam, Australia and in locations on the East and West coasts of the USA. And if THAT’S not enough to be excited about, EVE players can submit a video to convince CCP to hold Fanfest right in their living room with large scale events held in and around the winner’s city.

Saga of Lucimia – Change is Good, Right? RIGHT? Iterative Process Explored in New Post

In the latest Mondays in MMORPGs on the Saga of Lucimia site, the team takes a look at the iterative process in games. While iteration is needed for the health and longevity of any MMO, players balk at needed and necessary changes and often don’t see behind the curtain about why things move along as they do. The post details player perceptions that change means “the design of a game = not the same game that was discussed or [was] ‘advertised’ by the company”.

LawBreakers – Is Epic ‘Poaching’ BossKey’s Staff? CliffyB Thinks So

It seems that Cliff Bleszinski is on the warpath. Last Friday, he sent out a targeted tweet accusing Epic of trying to poach his BossKey staff. “Hey @epicgames, could you please stop trying to hire away my team? We just launched @Radical_Heights on #UE4 and are really happy with how it’s going” he wrote. Responding to his own tweet, he further said, “There’s room at this genre (sic) for more than a few games SMH”.

SNK’s brilliant animation design shines through with Garou: Mark of the Wolves’s Rock Howard

SNK has always provided lots of eye candy in its detailed art, though one rarely has the chance to slow down the action to really pay attention to the details. SugarPunch Design Works took the time to appreciate the fine details of the aesthetic that makes up Rock Howard, one of the most popular characters in the series.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves’s Rock, who is the son of the villainous Geese Howard and adopted son of Terry Bogard, has elements from both characters. But he largely succeeds in “carving his own lineage”, as SugarPunch points out. There’s genius simplicity in Rock’s color scheme, which has basically only three colors. His jacket is an important element; it’s finely outlined, and you can always see it moving responsively to whatever way Rock attacks. It’s that blowback, or follow-through, effect that adds to the power of SNK’s animations. There’s also a nice touch of personality in his attacks that not everyone might know about — after performing heavy attacks, Rock flips or fixes his hair.

Check out the video below to appreciate Rock’s old-school, and excellent, animation.

The King of Fighters XIV version 3.0 roundup: Heidern Storm Bringer bug, Oswald combos, Dinosaur oki and more!

It has been a few days since version 3.0 of The King of Fighters XIV has dropped, and Twitter exploded with new tech almost immediately upon its release. The patch brought us several new characters and a host of balance changes for the preexisting cast — let’s take a look and see what the FGC has uncovered since our last roundup!

Let’s start out with some basics. If you’re unsure of which new character you want to try out first, Gatoray has a decent sampler of each characters combos.

TheLastKaede shows us that Heidern’s classic “Storm Bringer” bug has made it into KOF XIV — is it safe to say this is a feature, at this point?

Maybe less intentional is Blue Mary’s “Double Rolling” bug, demonstrated here by COMBONAUTS.

Persona Entertainment shows us the fantastic combo potential of Heidern.

Apolo Loussalier gives a great breakdown for newcomer Njad, covering her normals, okizeme, and more.

APE OF THE U N I V E R S E shows off why the King of Dinosaurs hasn’t gone extinct in KOF!

And to close us out today, LostFeather413 shows off Oswald’s combo potential. I’m just going to use this opportunity to gush about how cool Queen is in combos. Thank you, SNK.
