rooflemonger goes over system mechanics in BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
This in-depth look sheds light on what’s new with BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
Now that the beta has begun, many players have been busy practicing BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, which switches up the regular Arc System Works formula considerably.
Fighting game guide rooflemonger is tackling the newest ASW game with a walkthrough of the gameplay mechanics. It’s a fairly relaxed video, divided into a few sections — starting with a general overview of the game’s bars and buttons. At about 5:20, he ventures into the defensive mechanics, including the risky Dragon Punch. rooflemonger then discusses pushblock which operates à la Marvel vs. Capcom. After that, he delves into the tag system, covering how to effectively weave your partner into combos and neutrals. Finally, rooflemonger explains Resonance Blaze, BBTAG’s “X-Factor” mechanic.
All in all, the video is a nice look at what to expect from BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle and its gameplay mechanics. If you prefer a guide that displays inputs and is a little more concise, check out this JP BBTAG system primer instead.

Frame 1:
Core-A Gaming tackles the intricacies of salt and fairness in their latest video
Core-A Gaming always knocks it out of the park with their insightful and in-depth examination of all things fighting games, and the salty subject addressed here is no exception.
Frame 2:
Dragon Ball FighterZ: New features and balance patch coming May 9th, patch notes released
Depending on whom you play and how you play them (and how prone you are to hyperbole) this patch was either rather minimal overall, or devastating to your game plan…
Frame 3:
Rising Up: Season 3.5 — Important changes for Kolin, Ed, Abigail, Menat, Zeku, Sakura, & Blanka
Bafael finishes up his look at the most recent balance changes to the Street Fighter V cast, closing with the most recent DLC fighters that were affected.
Frame 4:
Hands-on experience with SoulCalibur VI at Texas Showdown 2018 — Part 1: Mechanics
Crow_Spaceboy spent some time digging as deep as he could into the build of SCVI on display at Texas Showdown, and lays out the pros and cons of what he learned about the game. For character-specific thoughts, check out Part 2 as well!
Frame 5:
Capcom details the Training and Versus modes in the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection
Capcom really wasn’t going to add these functions in, until the community cried out that they wanted them…? Developers can be… weird. At least they’re listening, and this collections looks better and better for it.

Frame 1:
SNK’s new NEO GEO Mini is both a miniature arcade cabinet and miniature console
Could’ve used one of these at my desk when I worked in IT.
Everyone can learn something from the passion and ferocity with which DaPurpleSharpie attacks her projects in the FGC.
Frame 3:
Isaac from the Binding of Isaac joins the ever-expanding roster of Blade Strangers
I don’t think this story could have been processed by the human mind a few years ago.
Capcom, whatever you want me to do, I’ll do it if one of these games is a new Rival Schools.
Frame 5:
Pop Culture Shock has a massive (and expensive) Shao Khan figure up for pre-order
This thing is incredible, but sadly I also need to… eat… food? So I won’t be buying this anytime soon.
Catch up on what you may have missed in our prior SRK Rollback compilations.
