Windjammers will be at AnimEvo 2018 with a free-entry side tournament; Top 4 on Evo side stage

The past few years have been incredibly kind to the FGC’s favorite sports game, Windjammers. The Data East-developed competitive flying-disc game saw resurgence through its DotEmu port to modern consoles, and the company has kept momentum through its “Windjammers Flying Power League” esports league.

Much like a set of volleys between two skilled players, it doesn’t look like the Windjammers momentum will slow anytime soon:

Windjammers will not only have its own free-to-enter tournament at AnimEvo, but the top 4 will jam is an Evo 2018 side stage event. It was just a year ago that Windjammers was vying for a slot through Evo 2017’s poll — if there was ever a lesson in determination working miracles, Windjammers’ improbable rise to Evo prominence is it.

BoxeR-King demonstrates how avoid Hellsweeps in Tekken 7

The Hellsweep is defining characteristic of Mishima archetype in the Tekken series. These fast, unseeable, knockdown lows form the basis of their mix-up tools in Tekken 7 and are, in general, an incredible annoyance for most players to deal with.

Like most things in Tekken 7, though, you can use sharp, clever movement to ease the burden of trying to guess when the Hellsweep is coming. Tutorial video gives an overview of Dizzy’s strengths and weaknesses in Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2

Dizzy’s popularity has been proven in Guilty Gear, when she won the character popularity poll that inclined Arc System Works to put her into the Xrd series. Though she isn’t played as often, she certainly has a cult following built around her fanciful appearance: centered around an interplay of light and shadow, ice and fire. If you’ve ever wondered if she’s the right character for you in Xrd REV 2, Apolo Loussalier’s video might convince you.

At heart, Dizzy is a zoner who is actually surprisingly mobile, especially thanks to her double air-dash. This lets her quickly retreat and advance on the battlefield as well as lead an offense in unexpected ways. When paired up with her summons and projectiles, the air-dashes can lead to powerful mix-up and cross-ups. Her normal attacks have good range but tend to be on the slower side. Her gameplan revolves around knocking the opponent down (her throw, which allows comboing, is a great way to accomplish that) and sending ice and fire spears at them, coupling with her frozen fish attacks.

Pre-ordering BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle grants instant access to beta; Information on the American version

At last, we have some concrete information regarding the beta testing period in North America. As we already know about the Japanese version, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will be available in a limited capacity on PlayStation Network, with certain times for those who pre-ordered and different days for those who are still on the fence. But now, we have confirmation regarding the American side of things, and there’s lots of good news.

For the most part, the English beta of BBTAG mirrors the Japanese open beta of the game. Those who pre-order the game will have a wider window of play, starting from May 9th. Arc System Works posted useful charts that detail what are the available modes and numbers of characters and on what dates, dependent on whether players pre-order the game or not. Notably, those who pre-order can try the game three days earlier (immediately as pre-orders become available on May 9th) and have access to VS 2P Mode. Only people who pre-order will be able to compete against other human players. There will be an online “Casual Lobby” available too.

After the window of the first beta ends on the 14th, the game will be available as a downloadable, offline demo. Those who didn’t pre-order will have access to a very limited version of the game that includes just the protagonists of each universe and two modes. Pre-ordered copies permit pretty much the same access as in the beta period, but without online play.

Note: this is for PlayStation 4 users only. The Japanese beta does include a window for Nintendo Switch users; the US ASW branch will have information regarding this matter available soon. If you pre-ordered through means other than PSN, the beta will start for you on the 12th.
