Chris Tatarian picks the brain of The Beast in this insightful interview with Daigo Umehara by GauntletTV

An honest team discussion about a winning mentality.

It has been over a month since NorCal Regionals 2018 concluded, but there is still plenty of video content pouring out of Capcom’s most recent premier event in North America. In this latest piece of content coming out of the NCR, Cygames Beast’ Chris Tatarian interviews his teammate, Daigo “The Beast” Umehara — with the help of the latter’s translator, Shino — about his tournament mindset and decision-making.

This interview is refreshing to watch, because it consists of one pro speaking to another, instead of a FGC journalist or personality. Also, since both players are teammates, the interview feels more like a discussion or lecture on improving one’s competitive mindset than a typical Q&A. Chris presents his questions by outlining what he himself has had trouble with and then asks Daigo what his thought process is behind those decisions. Overall, this is a very educational and informative interview for anyone looking to improve their mental game in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.

Wake Up Wednesdays returns with a closer look at Capcom Pro Tour point distribution in 2018

Capcom Fighters’ recap show is back to talk all things Capcom Pro Tour.

As the Capcom Pro Tour starts to get some momentum, Capcom Fighters has now brought back last season’s (formerly) weekly CPT recap program, Wake Up Wednesdays, hosted by Michael Martin. This time, Martin opens with a thank you to all CPT competitors — and Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition players in general — for their effort and support during the 2018 CPT season so far. He then proceeds to talk about the “contentious” changes to point distribution in the 2018 Tour, and the reasoning behind them, in detail. He also discusses how Regional Finals will work this year.

Maximilian discusses how YouTube’s content policies creates difficulty for Mortal Kombat content

The quest for Kontent has Konsequences.

Last year, YouTube made changes to their advertising guidelines, that were supposed make it so that brands wouldn’t end up putting their ads on videos they didn’t want to be associated with. While this had the positive effect of demonetizing videos with hate speech and other offensive material, this has also negatively impacted some video game-based content.

FGC personality Maximilian discusses in a recent video that content created for Mortal Kombat has been hit hard by the new content guidelines. Not only do words such as “blood”, “fatality”, and “brutality” get flagged, but so too does the game’s title itself, it seems.

As the video below explains, getting flagged is no joke. The system for appealing a flagged video is not in the favor of the creator. Getting constantly flagged appears to also have the creator’s channel itself flagged for future content.

With this in mind, Max warns that anyone wanting to monetize videos based on the franchise will find it difficult, while also giving a couple of tips for anyone still wanting to do so.

MMOs were the primordial soup in which many online game design ideas were born and we are seeing the decedents of that era dominate the market. Some are already saying that the Battle Royale genre has been tapped out. I offer a different opinion.

Panda Global announces PG FighterZ League for Dragon Ball FighterZ

A New Challenger has entered the Dragon Ball FighterZ competitive arena!

It looks like the Summit of Power isn’t going to be the only competitive Dragon Ball FighterZ circuit raging this year, as the road to Evo 2018 now runs through Panda Global’s newly-announced PG FighterZ League.

Beginning this past weekend and running through July 15th, this community league — spanning local tournaments, online events, and Twitch sub-only tournaments, including some run by Panda Global themselves — will look to award the top 3 placers with temporary sponsorships and flights out to Evo 2018 this August as members of PG.

Any tournament organizer can get their event approved on any of DBFZ’s three platforms, simply by organizing it within smash.gg, gaining enough registered participants to meet one of the stated tier requirements, and gaining the stamp from PG. TOs will be limited to only two events per tier each month, however.

Tier and point distribution are as follows:

  • pgZ Tier: PG’s nakkiel_pnw twitch sub only Online Monthlies: 1st: 600 Points 2nd: 300 Points 3rd:225 Points 4th: 150 Points 5th place tie: 75 Points each 7th place tie: 40 Points each [15 Points for coming below Top 8]
  • LocalZ Tier: Offline Events with 16+ Players: 1st place: 240 Points 2nd place: 120 Points 3rd place: 90 Points 4th place: 60 Points 5th place tie: 30 Points each 7th place tie: 15 Points each [5 Points for coming below Top 8]
  • SubZ Tier: twitch Sub Only with 16+ players: 1st place: 160 Points 2nd place: 80 Points 3rd place: 60 Points 4th place: 40 Points 5th place tie: 20 Points each 7th place tie: 10 Points each [5 Points for coming below Top 8]
  • LobbyZ Tier: online tournaments with 16+ players: 1st place: 80 Points 2nd place: 40 Points 3rd place: 30 Points 4th place: 20 Points 5th place tie: 10 Points each 7th place tie: 5 Points each

The top 3 placers by July 16th will receive a flight to Evo 2018 and swag from Smash.GG, while the Top 2 also have their entry fees paid for and the Champion receives additional swag from Panda Global.

This past weekend’s Rose City Ascension 3, The Arkansas Special – April Edition, Week 4 of the #CellGames, TallyTown Throwdown, “Way of the Wolf,” Super TSB 2018, and the EU’s BORN TO FIGHT – Shenron Challenge results will count towards the rankings. Upcoming events include:

  • Texas Showdown 2018
  • Caliburst May 2018
  • Northern Conflict XVI
  • Manga Pop Gaming Tournament
  • Spanish Masters: The Iberian Showdown
  • PG FighterZ League: PGz May-July (for PS4, Xbox One, and Steam PC)
  • THE FIGHT 2018
  • Smash-Mex 2018

Elder Scrolls Online – Further Thoughts on Summerset

ESO’s latest expansion is roaring along on the PTS, and this week I’m continuing my thoughts on the new content. As I continued to delve deeper into Summerset and all its new chapter glory, I felt overall my satisfaction peaked. I don’t mean that in a negative way, in fact I am happy at where it peaked. I’m overall happy with how Summerset came and how it was designed. With that being said, let’s go into a little more detail this time on what made the journey as fun as it has been.
