Despite the fact that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has only been featured at one event, YouTubers and other Smash enthusiasts have been busy analyzing footage and spotting differences in the new game. If you’re looking to play Fire Emblem characters like Robin or Ike, you’re in good hands.
Mad Ice King starts things off with a detailed look at Robin. Right off the bat, you can see that Robin has new durability meters that show usage of the tomes and sword. A welcome change is the fact that you can adjust the angle on Elwind’s up-B, which improves Robin’s mobility and reduces the chances of getting caught. Discarding the tomes seems better now, as it looks to bounce off when it’s thrown and it may be possible to pick it up again — though this is still mostly speculation. If you’re ready to shout “We like Ike! We like Ike!” turn to this next video from Baselard. He goes over in great detail about the general and specific mechanical changes of Fire Emblem’s sword wielder. The universal changes make him able to jump a little faster. Keep in mind that you can air dodge only once and that wavedashing doesn’t work like it used to. His fully-charged B now releases a short shockwave. Overall, Baselard is pretty excited about Ike’s changes.
